Hey everyone, this is one of my first short stories that I decided to write and post here. Its going to be a mature story, but for now, its just intros. The other stuff will be in my next submission. Its about halfway done. This is my first time sumbmiting anything here so I'll put the story here in the comment box if you don't feel like downloading.
Oh wow, now an entire page of writing has turned into a small piece of literature. :-/
A tall reptilian covered head to toe in shiny, emerald-green scales ending in a long, whip-like tail emerges from a classroom at nine o'clock in the evening. He lets out a loud sigh of exasperation and leans against a nearby wall. He wears a light-blue zip-up hoodie, a red t-shirt with the design of a white lizard skull on the front, blue denim jeans with large holes exposing the knees of his digitigrade legs, and no footwear due to a shiny-black claw protruding from the end of each of his four toes. He has the basic facial composition of any other kind of lizard, a pointed face, slited nostrils, a mouth lined with sharp, needle-like teeth, bright green eyes with elliptical pupils hidden behind a pair of black reading glasses, and an outcrop of spikes on the back of his head made of hardened portions of hide that rake backwards and look a bit like hair.
His name is Lyle Hornsby, a sophomore at the Congrade University majoring in literature who just got out of a particularly grueling calculus exam as part of his required courses. Mathematics had never been one of Lyle's favorite subjects and it didn't help that the instructor, Professor Brekket, was one of the toughest teachers in the entire math department. There were stories that he literally barked at a few of his students so much (as it turned out that he was a German shepherd dog) for repeatedly getting simple equations incorrect that they ran out and never came back. Lyle had no idea how he did on the test. He studied all night but even so, he still had a hard time getting through it. At the moment, he didn't even care if he got a bad grade now that he was out of there. He just wanted to get back to his dorm and relax somehow. It was a Friday night after all.
Lyle walked slowly, thinking over the problems that he worked on and realized that he had missed a few steps here and there that made a few of the problems completely incorrect. He smacked a scaly, four-fingered palm against his forehead for doing something so idiotic. "Well, screw it. I'm not letting some tiny mistakes ruin my weekend." As he approached the front door, Lyle wondered if his roommate was still up and about at this time.
His roomie coincidentally happened to be another reptilian who went by the name: Jason Wikkit. He looked a lot like Lyle but he was a bit shorter, had sapphire-colored scales and eyes, and his spines curved upward in the front a bit instead of straight back like Lyle's. He was currently studying the Fine Arts and working towards being a sculptor. The two of them often went places together and seemed to share a sort of connection that neither of them could really explain. Looking down at his watch, Lyle wondered if Jason would be willing to hang out at this time as he turned his key in the deadbolt and entered. "Hey Jason, “he called out. "You up buddy? I just got out of the worst math test of my life!" He walked softly on the carpeted floor and came up to Jason's door. His light was still on and it was shining into the hall from the bottom. Knowing his friend, he simply opened the door without knocking and spoke as it swung open. "Hey, I need to unwind. Would you want to go out and-" Lyle's words, were stopped short by the sudden surprise from what he saw as he turned to his roommate.
