My PCA Team, named after, IMO, the greatest professional wrestling stable ever, again, IMO. Other then Ripple and Scorch, the Ponyta and Cubone are unnamed, and Scorch and Ripple are more nicknames then real names, d'oh, I'm just horrible with names and everything.
Remember, when you're in the nWo, you're in the nWo 4 life.

Well, their plan for the nWo was to have them beat down Stone Cold for several weeks to get them over. And obviously Stone Cold didn't like the thought of getting buried at the height of his popularity (plus he has a well-known grudge against Hogan, but who doesn't these days), so he just up and left.
And of course, the whole angle fell apart with that and they had no way of recovering.

Yeah, well, whats the first thing that the nWo did when coming into WWE, kiss Vince's ass storyline, though not in the kiss my ass storyline, but still, and that didn't help any since the nWo was originally known for "invading" and such.
Another thing that really killed it was Hogan turning face again at WM X8.

If I remember correctly, the original plan was for it to be eventually revealed that Vince was the one who brought them in to wreck Stone Cold, and then have the blowoff match at X8 with Stone Cold getting the win. One of the early Smackdown PS2 games had a reworked version of that storyline.
But since Austin knew that Hogan has a long history of backstage politicking to get his own way (and semi-indirectly killed WCW as a result), he wanted nothing to do with it. The face turn was because everyone figured Hogan would draw more doing a nostalgia run, and because letting the nWo angle run uncontrolled again would have been too dangerous.
Man, I can't believe I remember all of this.

Well in all fairness, at that point Hogan, Bischoff and Russo had driven away almost all of WCW's former fanbase with their shenanigans, and the company was pretty much bankrupt anyway. Selling TV time to something nobody wanted to watch is kinda silly.
Even Ted Turner had ditched his stake in WCW by then, which was probably the real last nail in the coffin.

Yeah agreed, lately WWE's ben screwing nearly everything up, well even when it was still WCW I felt they were getting to big at one point my favorite period of theirs was up to about the Wolfpac era then it just started getting too big I still try and watch WWE these days it's more of a chore though then it once was :(
