((I thought of this little story thing and just HAD to illustrate it XD The story itself needs some work x3 ))
For a species that doesn't breed and only creates new members through a transformation process similar to that of vampires, one might conclude that there could be no crux children or babies. However, this isn't the case. Every so often when a child goes missing, the kidnapper is actually a crux that decided for one reason or another to transform the child into one of its own. More often than not, the children choose not to return home after they're turned, fearing what may happen when their parents and loved ones see what they have become. Since most people have never seen cruxes or have any clue as to what they are, there is a hidden danger for the children who do not return home. Many unethical petstore owners take place in the young crux trade, passing off the youngsters as exotic pets and selling them for a hefty price tag. With no one to protect them, a lot of the children are captured and quickly put up for sale. Some young cruxes get lucky and are bought by kind people who either help them to return to their families, or keep them to raise as their own. Some aren't so lucky, ending up with irrisponsible humans who keep them caged or mistreat them. Facing a life of confinement, some of the cruxes go mad. Being of greater strength and intelligence than humans, a crux holds the potential to be very dangerous even when sane, and once escaped it holds the potential to cause mass destruction....Or, quite simply, continue the cycle it has already endured, one that will continue for many years to come.
