Sonic's Secret?
So, how exactly does that blue hedgehog go as fast as he does? Maybe he's turbocharged! :P
Naw! Really, this is a cosmetic restoration project of mine, brought about after I saw
Turbo35 carrying around a turbo housing at Megaplex 2012. x3 This is the exhaust (cold) side of a Borg-Warner K31 turbocharger, removed from a Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine after it inhaled a rock. (As you can clearly see, the turbine wheel is all fucked up. x3) When I got it, it was all dirty and oily, obviously, so I had it bead blasted and then painted it myself, using Rust-Oleum's 'Painter's Touch' Deep Blue spray paint. (The one chip in the paint around the wheel has been touched up.) For this photo, the housing is sitting by itself on the pavement, with the wheel underneath. The housing is painted everywhere except inside (underneath), around the wheel, and inside the bell. The paint looks really nice in person! I used a Sharpie silver paint pen to letter the embossed part number and date code; the oil inlet is unpainted bead blasted metal.
This turbo may make random appearances with me in my new fursuit, once I have it! Again, blame
Turbo35. x3
(I actually have the entire turbocharger assembly, compressor side and all...this is the only part that has been restored. I may do the rest at a later date!)
