OMG, you see the youtube links above there, right? ^
IT'S SO GOOD. I'm just sorry I haven't been blabbing about it on FA as much as I should've. I've kind of been basking in it on my HTTYD sites lately. XD But seriously, wonderful stuff. :) It's so evil... there's so many hardcore not USA fans that have to go to great lengths to try to see the show. It's really not fair at all.

Yes! Saw both episodes already. The second got me the sads with Gobber :CCC
And no worries, I still got the updates here (should reaaally get a Tumblr srsly)
Yeah, we really have no option but to watch things online or somehow get dish/direct tv. It's still no problem, i don't watch TV much either way. Only thing that pisses me off with the whole outside-usa would be the LAAATE show-up of movies, though most are big enough to premier in all countries at once. Oh, right. And I can't use Pandora.

love these XD
the series though.. I dunno, im skeptical to watch due to the massive difference in overall quality from the first movie to the dvd specials then this... I always feel when quality starts to faulter its more for the money than the passion of the film. I mean they're making a HTTYD 2 right? Thats where the funding is going I guess. And the effort.
Whats your opinion of the series not that 2 episodes are around?

They are making a second movie, yes.
Just visual quality? You have to remember, the series started as a book that literally had SCRIBBLES as illustrations. And hell, they were DAMN good illustrations, as far as depicting the story in spirit. I'm far more concerned with the effectiveness of the storytelling.
The only reason the TV show has reduced visuals is budget. And they really did the absolute best they could. It knocks the socks off other CGI tv shows I've seen. The characters have textures and hair that moves, they're much less jerky than other CG shows I've seen, and all that good stuff. The treatment of the models is slightly different, particularly Toothless (different animators than the movie), and of course detail has been reduced/messed with a bit. But not much. And they use some really surprisingly cinematic, often even humorous tricks with the camera.
Both episodes are very lovingly written. The plotlines are arguably fundamentally pretty basic, but it's all infused with the humor of the movie, and it's really a delicious closer look at the dynamics of the characters. Snotlout's shaky relationship with his dragon, the antics of the twins, Astrid's mean streak, Hiccup and Stoick, Gobber's slight mental instability...
I am SO excited at this point to see more of the series. I was very impressed. Not only have they kept things in line with the movie, but they also, surprisingly, have done a lot to support the spirit of the original book series as well.
I really do urge you to at least view the first two episodes and see what you think.
