Fox, your Sumi-e... they are SUPERB. I admit, I thought you could only produce the "cartoony" types, but these last few- my perception has been CHANGED. You are FANTASTIC!

Thank you so much! I'm still trying to find my 'voice' in sumi - and what is in my head is a style sort of between illustrative and 'realistic' with a very natural, loose flow of the ink - it's slow in developing - I'm still testing out many different types of papers (shuen handles very different than best shuen/double shuen or glass paper, for instance) and learning better water control - I just find it incredibly relaxing and meditative to do (when I'm not just churning through paper producing ink blob scraps anyways :)

Ha ha- blob scraps... oh man, that IS the way of all art! Until we get the GOOD piece, we have all these little sheets everywhere...

Just love the looseness here and the flow/bleed of the ink. I love how it has an uncontrolled vibrancy about it that really matches the subject. Bravo!

Oh this is one of my faves, I love the way the body fades into the paper so smoothly and the delicate features of the face!
