The top middle looks like a "five o'clock beard" type that makes me think more of an alcoholic detective, especially with that stogie.
That doesn't seem like Kel's character to me.
Bottom left looks like a cartoon character about to be sick. The top right looks kind of like a raccoon, and the top left looks like a red panda. I think top left and right look really great, but for my money I'd put it on the one on the bottom right, which looks the most unique while still staying in his character.
I dunno why, but I always though of him as just being brown. I think I'm thinking of a webcomic I read once, about a little fuzzy thing with horns and a nice temperament who goes in search of a lost prince and it turns out its him all along.
