I just want to say upfront, I am not trying to piss anyone off with this. This is an idea I've been meaning to do for a few weeks now. I feel that foxes get picked on a lot because of the mass volume of them in the fandom. It makes me feel down when I see people picking on them and calling them unoriginal or uncreative. I get that there are a lot of foxes. I really do. I'm just looking to be the species I most associate myself with. If that makes me unoriginal, so be it. I'm proud to be a fox and I wanted to create something to show that.
I'm probably going to get some backlash for this.

* raises a paw in a fist in agreement * HELL, YEAH! With me having a fox obsession himself, I totally agree where you're coming from. Heck, just look at my fox plush collection! (Over 250 pieces and counting!) Foxes are unappreciated, frowned upon, and typically aren't liked (for those who're uneducated), and I highly contest that. Foxes deserve better than this. Foxes are beautiful creatures, and should be treated as such. There's current efforts going on to domesticate foxes as pets. Doesn't that mean anything to anybody? If liking foxes with an obsession were such a bad thing, you'd think there would be laws or bans, but no. Luckily we have the ability to like what we want, and with animal lovers get together, it makes liking them all that much more worth while, especially with a large fan base of a specific animal. Think of some OTHER obscure animal someone would like, and try to picture a lot of people who like the same thing. Is it really that much of an annoyance to frown on someone because an animal is so well liked? Hopefully people will come to tolerate those many people who like foxes (among others) and come to terms with letting them be who they are, without questions.
Sorry if my rant went on and on, but I had to get that off my chest.

I actually know about those domesticated foxes, that and I actually have a wild fox that hangs around my house that has been domesticated.......... Kinda. I saved its life by freeing it from a trap that it had got caught in and nurtured it back to health; the result was a fox that will openly let me pat it, hug it and even wears a collar! It also tries to chase off anyone who comes near me......
I am more of a wolf at heart, but if I had to be anything else; it would definently be a fox! To anyone who says that either foxes or wolves are either unoriginal, boring or anything else like that........ If you say that to me, you will not only get a hell of a lot of spam; you will also get an extremely dangerous virus....... *glares* same goes if you say something like that about Cody! Never be afraid to show who you are!
Not really, there's also the huskies and wolves. I think it's just because of the similar general look of the three of them (canine-ish look, ears, tails, etc) and furries just pick either one of them that they think defines them the most.
I don't find it unoriginal or uncreative, I think it's just that others find it... scary that one species is the dominant (it's going all primal!!). I've seen similar situations like there seem to be more Alliance players in WoW or there're too many humans in LOTRO. Now... the fandom really need more bears =P

Hmm, that's a fair assessment I'd say. This is just something I'd been wanting to do for a little bit because I really am proud of being a fox and nobody likes to be picked on.
As for the bears.....my original handle on dA was Grizzlebears but not for any reason of having a bear fursona. When I discovered the fandom and started going into anthro chatrooms I got asked if I was a bear all the time so I changed accounts x3 Fun fact: You are one of five bears I can think of in the fandom off the top of my head.

Foxes in fables are usually depicted as a sneaky, untrustworthy characters so I think that may have something to do with being picked on. But don't forget that foxes are cunning and can be used to do good as well. Like Disney's Robin Hood and Fantastic Mr Fox, love the later movie btw =P
Heh, thank you very much and it just to shows that we need more burrs!! =P
