As I said in my last journal, I'm working on making a card game. It's going really well, but until now I haven't had anything really worth showing. So I'm happy to finally be able to show off the character cards for Dragon's Hoard!
The art that's currently on them (the dragon heads) are going to be different and unique for each card on the final version. This art and the art for the final cards are done by gibbouswolf, who has known me longer than pretty much anyone and still loves me enough to do art for my silly projects. XD Thank you Gibbu ;-;
Now for more info about the game!
When the game begins, each person chooses a card. They get a special one-time-use move unique to that character, and a bonus at the end for their color.
I'm really excited about this game. Playtesting has been going well, and with any luck I'll have a set or two floating around at some conventions coming up. If you like card games or are interested in more info, please give me a watch or keep an eye on my journals :> I definitely will be looking for playtesters too, so if you have a printer, cardstock, and at least one friend/family member to playtest with, let me know!
Thanks for clicking! <3 It means a lot to me!

Heee I'm so glad you've been putting up with my babbling, thank you so much. Not many of my friends have any interest in this project so I'm sorry you've been getting so much of it shoved in your face XD But it means a lot to me!
I can't wait till you can play with my big deck. It's pretty thick, you know. And colorful!

Oh awesome, thank you! I'll definitely keep you in mind :D Cardstock is just to make it easier to handle the cards, but plain paper works fine too. Neither of them shuffle all that well, but that's what www.thegamecrafter.com is for, when I hit that step :> Yay nicely-printed cards!
I would not do good with Charming Nature lol but so far all of these effects are awesome in their originality hon! I at least want to buy a deck so I can check out all the cards. So far looks very well thought out and designed. I wouldn't be surprised if this was picked up by some company...hopefully not Wizards of the Coast XD!
You lie so bad. You do nothing but compliment me. *gives you all her treasure*
And thank you so much for the encouragement, Synn! It would be neat if someone picked it up, but I can't say I expect it. I've heard it's reeeeeally hard to get a game company to pick up your game. But you never know! :> if anything, I'll produce it myself. It'll be pricy and I won't make much profit, but the real prize here is seeing people with something I've made that they (hopefully!) enjoy. That would make me really happy!

I'd be interested in helping out as a playtester, if you need them. I'm a minmaxer since way back - if there's something that's not balanced that can be broken, I'll figure out how to break it. Not to mention that I have something of a head for game design, being in the business myself. =)
That would be extremely helpful, thank you! I definitely will be needing the nooks and crannies of this game searched and exploited, and suggestions for balance or...well any suggestions, really. I want this game to be fun, and streamlined in a way that makes picking up and playing it not too hard. You'll definitely be hearing from me!
I explained a little bit in my last journal as I said above, but for the lazy (and everyone else!) here's a small writeup I did:
It is well known that dragons collect massive hoards during their lifetimes, filled with gold and treasures they've acquired by various means. Not so well known is the fact that the dragon with the most valuable hoard as seen as the fiercest and most cunning of all. As one of the dragons competing for fame and glory among all dragonkind, you must find treasure using your wit and luck, even if you have to steal it from your fellow dragons. Be cautious, however, because they'll be looking for a chance to steal your hard-earned riches, too! Can you collect and keep your claws on enough treasure to rise above your peers as the greatest of dragons?
Dragon's Hoard is a card game for 2 - 5 players, played with one deck, in which you play the role of one of five dragons (the cards in the image file I've attached are the ones you choose at the beginning of the game to decide what your one-time-use "special move" and color bonus at the end are). The object of the game is to collect treasure cards and place them in your hoard, grouping them in specific ways to make piles that are worth more in value. The dragon with the highest value hoard at the end of the game is the winner, but watch out! Your fellow dragons will stop at nothing to steal your treasure right out from under you, and they will... unless you protect it or steal theirs first!
I took a few cues from Canasta for this game, mostly in the "collecting cards, putting them in groups, and counting points at the end" bit. But what's different are all the action and instant cards. Ones that let you draw cards, pass them to your opponents, and take another turn for your generosity, or steal a card from an opponent's hand and play it right away, or ones that allow you to trade treasures or protect piles of your own treasure.
Hope that helps :>
