How does someone possibly meet an anthro character (who I will often refer to as Ani-Man in this and at least one other series) and get them to live with you as a roommate? Well first you have to live in a world where they exist and maybe have something happen similar to what happens in this. This is only the first part of a series. While this one is a bit tame to start I do warn you that some of the future ones can get progressively adult in theme. Will try to rate these appropriatly. Oh and any suggestions for possible keywords might help too. Thanks.

Sometimes you meet people in the strangest of ways. The way I met my current roommate and occasional bedroom partner was one of them. It all started on my way to do some shopping at the Tempe Marketplace…
The sound of Stone Sour’s album Audio Secrecy was playing through the speakers of my silver Chevy Cobalt on that hot July day when I first saw her. Driving it the city is never an easy job for two main reasons, one is a high concentration of bad drivers, and the other is some of the people who never seem to know when it is a good time to cross the street. She obviously didn’t choose the right time. I had to slam on my brakes as I saw a figure in a grey tank top and warn faded blue jeans dart out in front of me followed by a police officer. After I got over the shock of the moment I thought two things were odd about the scene, both about the woman. One was that she was running on all fours, and the other was along with her blonde hair she was covered in orange-red fur, including a leg-long tail. Then I got to thinking about a third strange thing, why was the law after her?
When I got to the Tempe Marketplace I bought a paper from a vending machine. Headline in that day’s Arizona Republic: Bill Passes, Governor signs Ani-Man Tag law. During my time shopping I found myself scanning the article. The few bits I gleaned from it were, one, all Ani-Man were to get tags as part of this new law, two, any caught without would be treated as strays and would be taken to a special facility that would be built, and three, it gave any Ani-Man animal rights. I couldn’t help but give a confused laugh at the last part. While at the time I had not met any face to face I had heard they were living breathing, thinking, and talking creatures. Many had been petitioning for human rights. And I doubt some ‘dumb’ animal like a parakeet would be able to even think of doing something like that.
After I got a few books from Barnes and Noble I went back out to my car to leave. While I thought it would be interesting to see that Ani-Man girl one more time I doubted it would happen.
I was wrong.
As I turned down Rio Salado I heard a sneeze in the back seat. “Who’s back there?! I have a gun you should know!” I pulled over and looked in the rearview mirror for any movement.
“Don’t shoot!” came a feminine voice from the back. First her black furred hands with padded fingers and palms came up in surrender. Then I saw her fox-like head, with blonde hair with a streak of black along her left side with her orange-red and white furred face, her sapphire blue eyes lit up with fright. I could barely see her black ears as they were pulled flat against the top of her head.
“What the hell are you doing in my car?” I asked.
“I had the police after me and was looking for a place to hide. Your car seemed like a safe enough place,” she said sheepishly.
She seemed to be telling the truth. Then a flicker of recognition came to me. “Wait, you ran out in traffic earlier today while trying to get away from them, right?”
She nodded. “I don’t know why. Well, maybe I know, but it was only a few bucks and I didn’t think anyone had noticed and-”
“Calm down. I think I know what’s going on. Can you read?” She nodded. “Take a look at this. It will explain a lot. Front page headline,”
She took the news section from my hand. "What the hell?! They can't do this can they?" She asked with the skin around her nose tightening with anger.
"Its for the courts to decide now, even if we don't agree with it,"
"I hate this,"
"It isn't the first time someone has passed a law that almost no one approves of," I said thinking of a few that I would soon be forced to obey through either buying insurance or paying a tax. "We can only hope someone repeals it or the courts say it is unlawful,"
"Great, so it is completely out of my or any of my kinds hands. Just great," She turned her head to her right and sighed. When she raised her eyes to the window she froze for a second. When I heard a tapping on the glass and looked at what she was looking at I understood why.
"Sir, you and your friend step out of the car and keep your hands raised," said a cop with a gun pointed at my unexpected passenger. His car had pulled up behind ours and parked without us knowing until now.
"Better do what he says," I suggested to the fox girl. I got out first my left hand grabbing the roof as I did. The officer kept an eye on me as he did, but his gun sights never left her.
"You next, nice and slow," Under the pressure of gun point she followed his instructions and soon was wearing a set of hand cuffs. "You gave us quite a chase today you little vixen," The officer then focused on me. "So what is she doing in your car?"
Normaly I would feel inclined to tell the truth, however I felt this would only get her in more trouble then she already was from a law that I felt that I should say something a little different instead. "She needed a ride. I have met her on the streets before and we have gotten along well," I could see what the cop had his back to as the fox girl tilted her head and mouthed 'What?' to me.
"You realize a law has just went into effect concerning unlicensed Ani-Man don't you?"
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean I can't give her a ride somewhere right?"
"Not an unlicensed one,"
I put my hand right on the back of my neck, I still felt the need to help her out somehow, "Okay, so what possibily happens?"
"I take her in and place her in one of the animal shelters around here,"
"Waiting for someone to take her in possibly?" I felt an idea forming.
"Possibly,"
"Could it be possible that maybe I want to take her in now?"
The officer folded his arms across his chest, "What are you saying?"
"Is there any way that I can just take her with me now and take her to get licensed?" I asked trying to fish for something.
"Maybe, wait here,"
"Sure thing," I said.
I could still see the fox girl sitting on the ground back against the car, "What are you doing?"
"Trying to help you out somehow,"
"I don't see how,"
"You want me to just leave you here and have them take you off to a pound of their choice?" I asked.
"...No," she said and went quiet.
After about ten minutes on the radio with his supervisors he came back. "Okay, here's the deal, you can take your friend with you to one of the licensing locations, right now its any courthouse or police station in the city limits. But you need to do what you say you're going to do, otherwise I will track you down and bust you. We have been having a few cases where someone has claimed to be taking in one of them only to have the ones that were said to be licensed, and in some cases actually licensed, only to be found on the streets later," He said. "You get her licensed and keep her with you. No funny business. Now give me your license and I'll work up a temporary license and get it in the system,"
"Sure," I pulled my wallet out of my front left pocket and slipped out my drivers license.
"Okay, and you," he said looking at the fox girl, "I'll take your picture and put it in the system, but I need a name to go with it as well,"
"Name's Sy," she said. "S. Y,"
"Got it," the officer said going back to his car.
"Guess this means we are stuck with each other doesn't it?"
"Guess so,"

Later after we got Sy her licensing tags we went back to the appartment complex where I lived. She had been silent on all along the way since the police officer let us go and I figured on breaking the silence. "Hey things aren't that bad. They could be worse,"
"Yeah, I guess so, but I feel like I am losing a bit of my freedom with this deal," Sy said ears drooping to the sides of her head.
"Yeah, I guess I can understand that," I said as I fished for the keys to the door out of my right pocket. "Come on inside, maybe we can find something to cheer you up,"
She stepped in and took a look at the living room. "The air is a lot cooler in here,"
"I'm glad to have air conditioning in this hot place,"
"Its nice," she took a look around the room from the leather couches to the television set and game system. Her ears seemed to perk up. "A lot better than sleeping in some tent on hardened ground,"
"We'll have to think of something to do about sleeping arrangements as I only have a one bedroom appartment," I said.
Her ears really perked after that, "You have a bed?"
"Uh, yeah. In here," I said pointing the door to the bedroom.
Sy opened the door and sprang from all fours onto the bed. "This thing is huge and comfy! Would you mind if I shared it with you maybe?"
I had a had time resisting her smile. "Alright, but if you are staying in here you better behave,"
"Who says I wouldn't?" Sy said playfully and rolled off of the bed. "What else do you have around here?"
"Maybe you want to take a look from the balcony?"
"What's that?"
"Come through here and find out," I said opening some blinds and a sliding glass door.
"Woah," the fox girl said looking with her hands on the metal railing. "Nice. I think I might like stayiing here better then I first thought," Her eyes wandered the courtyard. "Hey is that a pool down there?"
"Yeah, you want to go swimming?"
"Definitly! I'm going down there now!" she said going back into the house. I followed her back in and noticed her stripping out of her clothes.
"Wait a minute, your not planning on skinny dipping are you?"
"Don't want to get my clothes wet," she said. "Besides, when is the last time you heard of someone complaining about a fox going around naked?"
I smiled. "Never,"
"Exactly. Now let's just hope they don't have any pet rules for the pool,"
Things seemed to be starting smooth already.
