Because people have asked, I've decided to post this a little early.
In a day or so I'll open to give out quotes, so stay tuned for a link to my fancy new quote request form!

Prices are determined by many things-- time, labor, skill, material cost. Hands-only orders don't really float my boat (compared to other parts orders) so I've put a higher base cost on standalone commissions for them. If you're buying them as part of a complete costume it evens out :)
Hope you don't mind me adding my two cents here! From personal experience, hands are one of the most tedious parts of a suit to sew. Plus, it's gonna be more expensive when you figure in upgrades like silicone paw pads, claws, etc. IMHO, her prices are on par with others. :3
Thanks for the support! I don't think a lot of people realize just how much work goes into making these things... not to mention all the money I've gotta spend on R&D, my sewing machine and other tools, fur, etc etc. I think I'd make more flipping burgers 40 hours a week but eh... a small price to pay for living the dream, eh? :)
Tell me about it. x) Your hands cost a little more than mine, but I think I should re-evaluate how long it takes me to sew a pair. (I do at least have a $15 price difference on 5 fingered since they are a pain in the butt, haha.) I don't use a machine, so it's double the annoyance for me. ;v; Speaking of, can you recommend a good one for fursuit work? Been thinking about asking for one for Christmas. :3
And I agree, a full time job would probably pay the bills MUCH easier, compared to the amount of work you and I put into fursuits. Buuuut, I won't deny that working from home and being able to take a vacation day whenever we want is a really nice advantage. I'm still looking for a regular job out of college though. I only use fursuit building to financially pad me inbetween the job hunt. After I get a job, I'll probably only make 2-3 suits a year, or maybe try to do head trades. I've been really interested in trading. First things first, though. XD

Yeah, I do mine by handsewing too. They just look better that way! I've done the machine sewing thing, and honestly... all the time spent picking the fur out of the seams (and it's not like you ever get all of it anyway) doesn't save you any time.
I have this sewing machine http://www.sears.ca/product/kenmore.....00018598-16765 (sorry for Canadian website) It's awesome! It goes through seal, DF and MM fox just fine. I think I've had it at least 6 months now and for what we paid for it I'm very happy.
My plan with this is keep making suits until I have babies, haha. My man's in university right now so we're going to switch places with the breadwinning stuff when he's out. I'll probably still make them, but considering I want a whole herd of tiny people to love I probably won't be making them at the frequency I do now XD

Thanks for the link! And that's good to know about the seam picking. e.e; That machine looks pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to reading reviews on it!
Awwwwwwwwwwww, a herd sounds adorable. Lmao. I'm of a similar mindset. <333 That's so sweet. Best of luck to you and yours! :D

If you haven't tried it, woolite is amazing for cleaning white fur! Here's a tutorial someone did on LJ for white hand paws. :3

I have to say, I really adore the "mythical" creatures you've done (the dragons/gryphons primarily) perhaps it's personal preference, but you've really done some unique things and they really have GREAT expressions.
Now, question, I know you occasionally work with resin (I'm guessing that's why the "inquire about" thing) but what is an average price for a resin head? (I know it would very by species and how much foam you'd need to add, but just a vague price to go off of?)

A new silicone starter kit (which is enough to make one new sculpt) costs me CA$80 to buy, so if you want me to make you something new AND I think it's popular enough that I'd be using it again I'll charge you just for materials. If you have something really wacky and unique and/or you want me to never make copies of it for other people... let's talk! Probably an extra $200+ is a safe bet, depending on how complex the character is.
And thank you! It's funny, most of the costumes out there are dogs but for the most part people ask me for anything but. Hey, at least it keeps me on my toes since I can't just recycle the same base over and over >:3

Can't waiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!!!!!!!! Definetely going for a full >.< your new prices are quite expensive though i know i can manage to pay it all up :3 gonna have at least 850$ at the end of the month
But just a little question: what's the difference between plantigrade and digitigrade? O.o

Hehe, sorry! It's how I put food on the table and even now I'm just breaking even <3 It's worth it though, this is much better than a 9-5 job XD
Plantigrade costumes are when you have normal human legs, like the red dragon (halfsuit example). The blue dragon (fullsuit example) has padding to make it look like he's standing on his toes like a real animal (I think this is a better picture example of that though --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7556049/ )

Ohhhhhh :O alright then :3 then, i do think it's gonna be a digitigrade then :3 oh.... And if i ever get a spot, don't forge that i already have the tail :D
And i quite know what the feeling is... Making fursuits for you must be so fun :3 and i do really understand why you went up in your prices! To me, you're still the lowest fursuit maker i've seen so far and one of the most awesome too

Eeeee~~~ you used my partial for your price-sheet, I'm so honored :3
Have to say that these are very very fair prices for the quality one gets from you - I will definately commission you again for another suit when I think of another character, it's so awesome working with you

Your prices are really fair! And you're also Canadian! =D
I'm thinking by the time I bought everything to make a suit, it would still be cheaper to buy one of yours! XD
Question: Do you offer Con-pick up for completed suits, or do you HAVE to mail them?
Let's say I make the trek to What the Fur, can I pick it up from you there?
Or if you go to FE or Condition Furry, is it too much of a hassle to bring the suit with you? [/Color]

I'm fine with convention pick-up! The "catch" is that the only convention I can pretty much guarantee I'm going to is What The Fur. The other local-ish conventions I actively aim for, but between not having a driver's license (or a car, lol) and my boyfriend still being in university sometimes it just doesn't work out. We missed CB this year on account of exam season, such a bummer.
Are you also from Canada? :3

I'm actually in London! My first Furry convention was CB. :3
And I'm hoping in the future to be able to buy or make a suit.
I might have to make one if you retire for baby-making soon, but I can never hope for my first suit to look anywhere near as polished as yours. ^,=,^
Do you have a year in mind when you're going to be working on your last suit?

Deadlines wouldn't really be a problem for me. Just as long as a suit doesn't take over 2 years. XD
And my sona is a Dragon, but I'm not sure if I'd like a suit that's mostly fleece. Maybe the fleece I work with isn't anti-pill, but it never seems to last long enough, especially in high "traffic" areas.
Can one substitute a short fur, like seal or otter, for fleece?

It could be that your fleece isn't anti-pill-- my boyfriend's paws are actually recycled from my first 'serious' fursuit and they're not at the point of replacing yet. Nothing lasts forever, though!
And yeah, seal fur is great for dragons. You can even mix n match it if you balance it out properly-- Chioxin has fleece spines and wing-fingers where the rest of him is fluffy awesomeness.

Durability as in, how long it will last? Not really-- either foam or resin should last years without issue. Dropping it or sitting on it? Foam probably tolerates that better, to a point. Resin shouldn't be so thin that it's easy to crack but let's face it, you can't crack foam at all and I've put some of my foam heads through a washing machine without hurting them.
The main upsides for resin are improved ventilation (since your muzzle is hollow-er than foam) and generally the moving jaws are more snappy/responsive. We just made a resin face last night and once we have it all fixed up I'll probably post a pro/con chart to help people decide.
