Mom's Birthday Gift [plus video]
What is this!? Something not furry? Yep. ^^
This is a special birthday gift I drew for my Mom for her 64th birthday. It's her and her best friend of over 50 years.
I promised I would draw this for her. The date on the picture is when it was taken, when her friend came up from TX to visit her (that's the last time they've seen each other). Took a while, but it really made her happy. :)
Also, I recorded the second half of the process in a time lapse video! Because nobody wants to watch me draw for 8 hours. XD
Video is here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rRy.....ature=youtu.be
First portrait I've drawn in 5 years. First non-furry thing I've drawn in about that long. There's definitely imperfections, but I'm happy with it for the most part. ^^

Did you watch the video I uploaded with this pic (in the description)? That at least shows a little bit more of how I made this pic. It mainly involves a lot of smudging (stomps, and my finger, are very useful), and using softer pencils for dark areas and hard pencils for light areas and the outlines. :)
