without getting into a long, protracted explanation, shes' an ex-soldier turned mercenary for hire. in fact, here's the bio workup i wrote for the class i was taking:

Personality: Detached and cautious, yet when engaged, is fully focused on goal. values personal freedoms and enjoys fighting ( thus the appeal of life as a mercenary) Likes letting inner passions run wild, but fears that wild side, knows it could destroy her. Thus the caution. Likes wearing funky clothes. Hates licorice and the smell of tobacco.

A Psy Manipulator Or "Caster" as the slang goes, are soldiers who have undergone gene therapy to stimulate a spacific recessive gene that allows the brain to develop a mutation in the frontal lobe. This hyper-development of the brain alows the person to "sense" particles of matter at the molecular level, and influance their movments. A highly trained mind can even influance these particles enough to cause them to re-combine into different elelments, and shape this matter into solid objects, in essence "casting" an object out of whatever materials are available.

In other words: a caster can make stuff just by thinking about it. the practical upshot of this in combat situations is obvious. need a gun? poof, gun. need a bayonet? poof, bayonet. Of course, the more complicated the object, the harder to memorize and create. Thus, the more creative and intuitive the more effective the soldier.

The gene that controls this ability is rare: only One in 100,000 has a chance undergoing the treatment successfully.
