Saphiron – posable dragon handmade soft sculpture ooak fan

Hi everyone!
I’ve finished Saphiron, yaaay! Pheew, he took quite some time, but I‘m very happy with the outcome.

He’s got a wire armature that makes him posable from nose to tail tip. You can bend his long tail around your arm or let him cling to furniture (he likes clinging).
His wings can fold. Each felt feather is hand-painted with care and patience.
Saphiron’s eyes are very special. I made them with blue glass eyes over a layer of silver crinkly metal-film, which reflects the light beautifully. These glass eyes are embedded in polymer clay and surrounded by white/blue faux fur.
Materials: soft faux fur, strong felt, synthetic stuffing, wire, glass eyes, metal-film, fabric paints, some acrylic paint around the eyes, cotton thread, hot glue.
Size: Total length: 53 cm / 21” , Wingspan: 38 cm / 15”, Single wing: 18 x 9 cm / 7 x 3,5”, Head: 6 x 4,5 cm / 2,5 x 2”

Bird feathers have another issue too, along with the possibility of abuse somewhere. Bugs, especially carpet beetles and other little bugs, eat feathers. They'll eat holes in them, and the feathers dissolve. We must have a bunch of carpet beetles in our house (though we have very little carpet...) because if I don't store feathers in a plastic bag they get eaten. :B
