"Roly-Polympics 2012: Men's Pole Vault"

As today (August 12, 2012) is the last day of the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London, England, I've saved my best for last, as I post the first of two final cartoon gags from my fictitious "Roly-Polympics 2012" series (of sporting events with ample animal athletes).
I'm surprised that in all the years I'd drawn "R-P" gags (2000 and 2004; don't ask me why I'd skipped 2008), I failed to include the 'men's pole vault' event at the 'track and field' venue. Well, I've rectified that omission with a four-panel presentation (my second one in this year's series), as a competitive pachyderm attempts to clear the (off-panel) crossbar, to the cheers of the audience. Unfortunately, what this elephant makes up for in strength and determination, he lacks in aim, as the shadow over the grandstand demonstrates! (Personally, I think that the pole ought to get a medal for staying in one piece, after dealing with all that weight!)
Come back later today, and I'll be posting my final "R-P" cartoon gag... just early enough before all of you get to watch (or program your VCRs or DVD players for) the RL 'closing ceremonies' in London.
