where is this?

It was at UC Berkeley. If the animals are still there, they won't be for long. The project was stopped. If you watch enough hyena nature shows, you'll see the place :)

i've been to a zoo out around san francisco that had hyenas and when i was there i only saw one and it was from a great distance and it never came out of its barrel. so i only got to see the tip of its tail and one leg.

the zoo near me, although one of the biggest in the nation, doesn't even have hyenas.
yenas are my fave animal, have been since i was a child and i feel i'll never get to see one in person even remotely close up. makes me extremely sad.

but maybe someday!

Most of the hyenas in US and Canadia zoos are from there :)

It's a fairly rare animal, and I feel darn lucky to have not only touched them, but held and played with them.
