Well this was just a lesson in light more than anything else. I spent some time carving out and manipulating light and shadow just to see what I can do with it on a flatly colored piece without resorting to tricks that would give it some horrendous blend of 3D and 2D work. The colors are a bit cartoony bright and despite this being an early morning pic I try to not push to extremes with colors, unfortunately I think I fell into that with this none the less. Maybe it is just my monitor but the colors look so much better on my Wacom tablet versus my actual monitor... Hmm.

I made some small changes to the sun rays because I'm just trying to find what looks best, making sure I do more than just use a flatly colored reduced opacity on a layer to give a simple illusion of rays. I played with it more and added an effect and adjusted accordingly. Happier with it this way. Very small change but if one were to focus, the light looks better I suppose...
