Oh my word.
What a summer. It's been over since july. But it was a good un. I call this my summer of being a kid. I have played so much and done so many new things. I got my one swimming day in, and a couple of days later, I broke my wrist rollerblading. Long story short, I will have endured a 6 week cast when I only needed to wear it for 3-4 (small overbooked hospitals suck)
Ahaha aheehee yeah I was rollerblading! Oh my god, a 30 year old!
NO I DID NOT WEAR WRIST GUARDS DAMMIT.
Everyone's calling me derby girl now. I bet that would channel my feisty soul productively, but I see no derby league happening in gentle kings county anytime soon.
TL;DR:
I HAVE CRAMMED ALL OF THE THINGS IN MY CAST because itchy is my only thought from wake till sleep. The best thing I have found (it changes weekly) is a wooden coffee stirrer. It's the length of my arm, small and yielding, and it stores well in there so I am never caught without it. I don't reckon anyone will understand this situation unless they had to wear a cast for a "benign practically imaginary fracture on a tiny bone in the wrist"
and yes, I actually did paint the bone anatomy on my cast.

People look at you funny when you pull out a fork, a spoon, a screwdriver, and a second, larger spoon to scratch under a cast. I try explaining, "Each one is for a specific spot. This is complex," but they still act like I just produced a stick of dynamite made of syphilis and puppy tears.
But really, the worst part was when the nurse changed the cast too fast for me to ask to wash my frickin' arm. >.<
*sympathy hugs*
