I got Metal Gear for the NES just recently, and damn it's awesome! =3 But uh... some of the translations aren't very good... also sometimes the enemies do REALLY stupid things... like this! After yelling "I'M GETTING SLEEPY!!" He falls asleep for a short while. Then, when he wakes up, he yells out "I FEEL ASLEEP!!" ... no you feel AWAKE, but whatever. XD Really this is a fantastic game though, and I really recommend either getting a copy if you own an NES, or getting an emulated version. :3
I read up some on this version of the game, and apparently Kojima seriously HATES this version, but honestly, I still had a lot of fun with it. (note, Kojima had no direct involvement with this port of the game.) So actually if you want to play the version that Kojima actually likes, and developed, you need to either get an MSX2 and get the game, or get an emulator for the MSX2 and a copy of the game digitally. >_>

Yup yup, that, along with the redesign of the entire layout of the game, and some stupid glitches, and removed features, all combined to make it the version that Kojima DESPISED. Funnily enough, because it was so popular, a sequel Snake's Revenge, was created, which prompted Kojima to make a MSX2 sequel called Metal Gear: Solid Snake, which was his inspiration for Metal Gear Solid. SO this shitty version is why we have the series now-a-days. XD Besides, even though it's DEFINITELY inferior, it's still fun. =3 (at least I like it.)
have you read this let's play yet? http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh.....readid=3481148
