When I had the pleasure of meeting Nambroth at AC, I commissioned her to draw a watercolor painting of me and gave a few suggestions for poses and environments. She chose to draw me perching in the Appalachian mountains and this wonderful piece is the result. She says this scan doesn't capture the metallic paints very well, so if I can get a better photo of it when it arrives, I'll post that too.
Although I've never lived in the mountains, no place has quite felt like home like the Appalachians. Whenever I'm out there, whether in the Smokies of North Carolina and Tennessee or the Alleghenies of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, I always get this calling. The woods beckon me further and I am tempted to keep on following that trail or stream and to never return to the world of cities and men.
So far I have resisted that call, but I guess this is what I'd hope would become of me if I didn't.

I'm fortunate to have large hills and a few mountains around me but there never seems to be enough of them, the UK is quite small compared to most places so it's quite hard to be able to truley loose yourself here and you neer seem that far away from a road village. It's nice to wander into a place I haven't been before and like you follow a less trodden path or stream to see where it leads in the hopes that just around the corner something special and life changing awaits me but there's always that sad moment where I have to turn back or end up back where I started.
