coyotero wrote a great, great story about it....

This is somehow an experiment, because I had no real idea about the colours...what do YOU think, because I can print the lineart again...
La Fântome is a brig, a perverse quick clipper ship...not so many cannons, but Flibustiers and pirates normally fought mainly with muskets in the rig...
Btw. the ship is brand-new, although from second hand ( ;) )...so it is not so run down like a pirate vessel should look...

You know, from a practical standpoint having a smaller ship like that makes good sense. You can catch up to your target quicker, out-maneuver any pursuers, and it has to be much cheaper to maintain than a huge galleon.
And you can get away with having a flashy paint job like that too. :)

its just that what year or era are your pirates? this type is more circa 1820-40's galleons were more like 1620-40's. 'fast' ships were like the english style like a perch in shape of the hull allowing the english to have faster-lighter more manuverable ships. one of he reasons why the english came to 'rule' the seas. a perch fish hull is like the golden hind, sir francis drake's ship. that is versus galleons or caravels.
