Star catching - with story

Gem and Coen had been sitting outside in his back yard as the sun went down. It started to get dark and Gem started to get agitated. It wasn't cold on this clear summers night but she didn't like the dark and she could feel her heratbeat getting faster as she looked towards the house and the glowing lights shining through the windows.
Coen noticed Gem getting scared.
"Wats wrong?" He asked timidly.
Gem shook her head from side to side
"I dun like the dark, can we go in now?" She whispered, scared that perhaps the dark might hear her and get angry.
Coen grinned.
"But this is the best bit...all the stars come out."
"Stars?"
"Yeah look!" Coen said as it pointed skywards.
Gem looked up and saw all the little dots start to appear and twinkle in the sky, and as the sun sank lower and dissapeared behind the horizon the heavens filled with the hopeful twinkle of little lights.
Gem was infatuated with the sight and she smiled shyly at Coen thankful that he had shown her this. She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a huge hug, causing the wolf pup to blush deeply.
"I like stars" She said as she giggled slightly behind her pacifier
Feeling very clever and wanting to continue getting more hugs from Gem Coen had an idea and quickly scrambled to his feet. Within moments he had managed to collect a number of stones and sticks and even a broken plank of wood, from the garden surrounding them. Quickly stacking them in a pile he turned and grinned at Gemma.
"Gemma..I will get yoo one okay?"
Gemma nodded hopefully and watched Coen eagerly as carefully he climbed onto his little pile he had created and stretched out. It looked like he could almost reach. A few more stones and he was certain to get a star for Gemma, then she was bound to give him a really big hug...

Sometimes I get so inspired by an idea or a little story pops in my head, that I cant really concentrate on anything else until I get that out of the way LOL. I remember doing exactly this as a real child. knowing if I just stacked my pile a little higher I was bound to reach. I really had fun drawing the clouds. I felt really relaxed after drawing this, as if reminded me soo much of the innocence of childhood, where nothing was impossible.

*hugs* Maybe he'll catch a firefly and they'll both think it's a star! Then they'll let it go back up to the sky again, so everyone can see it. ^.^

Wonder if this was inspired by Eric Carle's book "Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me" (1986). Why not make up your own shapes of the star formations as you would when cloud watching at daylight.
