Okay, This sounds like a spiritual dream.

Sometimes a familiar is physical, sometimes metaphysical.

The horse is your spirit, and that one has seemed to have chosen you ( and you likewise).

That is what your familiar looks like.

Alot of people have to search for theirs, and it seems yours just came to you.

But, that was alot more than a dream. I'm fairly sure about that.

There was also a test to see if you would fight for it as well. (Not everyone gets that.)
