At the time of PNE 2006, I was still going through an emotional evolution vis-à-vis my approachability towards mascots. I was not yet ready to approach a furry character myself and had never done so willingly, but by now I was rather hoping for an opportunity wherein one might approach me
Shortly after arriving at the PNE, I noticed Fin—mascot for the Vancouver Canucks— waiting in the staging area for the Sport Town Heroes Parade. For the rest of that day a vision stayed with me: I would find an unoccupied spot along the parade route, Fin would notice me, pose for my camera, then come over and shake my hand. That fantasy would not leave me alone.
So later that evening, as the time of the parade approached, I did in fact locate such an unoccupied spot along the route. Sure enough, Fin came up the path, pausing along the way for photographs...
