I actually only crave the real deal anymore when I'm really stressed out; not even always when someone else is smoking one right next to me. Also nicotine manages some of the cognitive problems related to mental illness more effectively than some of the prescription drugs I've had; it has certain utilities that I'm just not ready to let go of I'm afraid.
I miss it too though. After a while, the e-cig I have is almost the real deal, but I'm thinking about picking up what I expect to be a better device soon.
