Down to Earth Travel even has its own spaceship! It was originally built by an alien race that had received Earth TV broadcasts from the 1950's and had become rather smitten by the Flash Gordon, Tom Corbett, Captain Video episodes they'd seen. Think Galaxyquest, and were sufficiently advanced to actually build some craft that parroted the style that they were fond of. It is a rather short range craft with very limited jump capability, and is used primarily to ferry customers from starliners coming into Sol System and take them down to the planet. To get a ship registered is a long, ardous, and expensive process that once started and certain documents signed and sealed changes can not be made unless you pay have to them reprocessed. In this world the spaceships are registered as Alliance Registered Spaceships which often gets mocked as ARSS. Patricia had originally intended the ship to have a proper, regal name of Pax Terra. Unfortunately she did not noticed a typo made by a clerk until after the registration was finished and the name had been misspelled to say Pox Terra. Since all the documents would have to be redone she didn't have the money to get it reprocessed she was stuck with it. This give a good hint of the humor in the series.
