[Per] The Solidarity in true Solitude
Ayup. So - here's what i did for the bg, i loaded up a model in google sketchup. added lighting to it and got rid of everything else and then print screened it, pasted it, made new image, kept clicking it and going back while i painted the bg in it - after that i drew in lorena, and then decided to try to paint her in there. I've realised a few things about this.
1) painting takes a long ass time.
2) I need to learn lighting, especially in the hips area and hands.
3) Fabric is fun to paint
4) I like painting shadows. 8D
The theme for this is solitude - there's a lot of times where i genuinely feel alone, not that it's necessarily bad, but i can honestly say there are times where i feel like i'm walking on eggshells with everyone around me and can rarely just let loose and be myself. So - woo. being alone. Looks like the viewer sees me though. crap. new hideout.

the biggest problem is a lack of contrast in this particular piece, everything is kinda flat or washed out at present.
this is real quick, but it should give you a general idea! this assumes a single light source, from behind the pillary thing (it's hard to determine where your light source is, currently)
my suggestion for where I would place darker shadows: http://i.imgur.com/qnpRQ.png
this gives a dramatic lighting effect that might not be what you're going for, but hopefully it helps demonstrate how darker values can be helpful. a good way to check your image is to just occasionally raise the contrast really high and see what pops out. I usually have to adjust the contrast in my pictures several times while I'm working because my mind isn't trained to naturally throw dark darks in places, lol.

let me know if that is helpful or if there was a different kind of look/feel you were aiming for, I can try and help you get what you want :V

That's pretty with the blue added in, and yeah that was my feel, problem is when i was shading it in like that with all grey - it looked really blocky and wrong to me - XD... i'll definately try to superimpose what you sent me and give the shading a shot when i wake up tomorrow. time to sleep the fuck out of my bed. it will have no fucks left. none. No fucks.
Whoa, nice!
