Gonna cut to the chase, these are two main cast characters from Buried.

Inspecter Carla Maye, and her partner Trey.

Carla and Trey are very well acquainted with Kenta for reasons yet to be explained, though his predicament does cause them to cross paths with him often, so we'll be seeing them a lot in the future.

They are part of 3rd division's criminal investigations department, as well as part of the traffic collision response team.
Inspector Carla is an intelligent, quick thinking, independent person, so she tends to see more success than her partner in terms of getting the job done.
She's always glad to have him on hand to assist with arrests though. Her last name Maye references the rare mineral Mayenite.

Officer Trey on the other hand, is a bit sheepish, very clumsy with paperwork and often scolded by the chief for poorly handling evidence. Carla's always had to steer him in the right direction. All in all he's still a capable officer of the law and loyal friend. Currently he secretly struggles with his biggest problem yet, asking his superior out on a date.

His middle name is the chemical element Tin, which has gained him nicknames such as Tintin, or Officer Tin Can.
Fun Fact: Trey's mother's first name is Cassi, which references to Cassiterite, a tin oxide mineral which has been the most important source of tin throughout history.

Carla and Trey both first appear in chapter one.

Almost every single character has some form of a mineral or rock inside their name in some form. Be sure to look for them in the comic.
