the basic story is his mother getting raped by a soldier of the former emperor, his mother got pregnant, gave birth to Maru and decided to care for him anyway since he couldn't help it. too bad that soldier became emperor and is now terrorizing the village they live in, capturing young girls for the emperors dirty business.
