Here's a saucy and brilliant pot roast meal from the kitchens of
thegayhare
This is one of my favorite recipes. It's my mom's Sauerbraten.
when done right the meat is so tender you don't need to chew it, and the sauce has the right amount of sweet and sour that might make you want to lick the plate.
as I said I like this one alot
ingredients
3 lb pot roast
1 tbs garlic powder
1 tbs onion powder
1 tbs season salt
1 tbs course black pepper
olive oil
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp crushed garlic
1 cup water
3/4 cup cider vinegar
3 tbs brown sugar
6 black pepper corns
3 whole onions
1 can mushroom soup
one jar beef gravy
Rub roast with onion powder, garlic powder salt and pepper.
set to season in fridge overnight.
heat olive oil in large pot (about 1/4 of an inch)
Make sure it's really hot
sear meat on both sides in olive oil, You want to really sear the meat if it sticks to the bottom right away that's okay just step back and let it sear once it works itself loose it's ready to flip and sear the other side. you really want to seal in the juices.
add broth, garlic, water, vinegar, brown sugar, pepper corns, and onions
simmer covered until the meat is very tender
add mushroom soup, and gravy. Stir well, cover cooking over a low flame
In a separate pot cook veggies (usually chopped carrots, potatoes, onion and celery) As soon as the veggies are cooked serve
