It was a sight unlike any I had ever seen before. A manor made from the very living trees of the forest. Its tallest wing reached past the very tops of the trees, a roof of leaves and tree branches that made it nearly undetectable to outside eyes. As I approached the well-concealed entrance to its main hall, I beheld the way the branches and roots formed a framework around each of the ornate stained glass windows, great slabs of brilliant amber that glowed in the setting afternoon sunlight. It was a sight for sore, travel weary eyes and an inspiring presence in these dark woods. Drawing closer, I noticed a woman standing upon the grand terrace. She wore a deep green cloak and her jet-black hair danced in the breeze, shining as it caught the little shafts of sunlight that pierced the canopy. The gift I bore was for her – twelve roses forged by the dwarves of Moria from the purest copper, a gift befitting a beauty such as herself. I climbed the stone steps and bowed my head before her. When I glanced up to see her smiling upon me, I could feel the warm and subtle grace that she radiated. It was no wonder so many had told tales of her kindness, describing her secret home as a calm sanctuary that brought rest to those who needed it most. With the utmost humility, I fell to one knee, offering up the twelve copper roses to her as a sign of my good will.
“Dear Lady Luthien, I come bearing a gift from the Dwarves who reside in the mines of Moria. Please accept these tokens of their gratitude for allowing their traveling kin to pass through your woods safely, under your watchful guardianship. Without safe passage, their journey would have been full of hardships.”
Luthien took the roses from me and tipped her head in a small gesture of appreciation. “Thank you, “ she said in a voice as smooth as the night breeze. “Their generosity will not be forgotten. Though it is uncustomary for my kind to exist peaceably with their own, I am glad to see that for once, a bridge could be crossed rather than burned. Be sure that they know they have my permission to use my forest as a safe travel route, so long as they go quietly and do not disturb the creatures who live here. If this one request can be granted, I will be happy to extend my hand to aid them whenever they have need.” She smiled again and turned towards the great wooden doors, and with one small wave of her hand, they slowly slid open, bidding us to enter.
“Your travels have been long, dear Traveler. Will you not come inside and rest your tired feet?”

This one took a LONG time to color when I finally got around to that part. Luthien's dress alone took me over an hour, because I was basically designing it as I went. 0_o' I'd like to work a bit more with some designs for Nightwolf Manor since its meant to really blend in with the forest, lots of twisting branches and vines etc. Anyway, here it is Helix, hope it fits what you had in mind. :)

I know you are comfortable with markers, and work fast with them. I also think you do an amazing job with them. But, I would still love to see you paint these, watercolor or Acrylics would just make them so much better, smoother! Hope you will try sometime to do some painting!
Wish you and I could spend a day together, I think I could change your veiw by teaching you how to do it! But I understand, just think you would go from a good artist to a great one if you painted instead of useing markers.
You have very good design, style and color sense...

Its not that I have never tried it, I have - I just don't enjoy it as much. I dont feel like I have the control with paints that I do with markers and pencils, this is why I use what I use. If it makes you feel better, I do like painting ceramic figures and things of that nature with acrylics, I just dont enjoy using them on paper. To each his own right? ;) I'm happy with my techniques and the media I use, would rather focus on getting better with them than trying to work with a media I just don't get into.
Btw...I do *sometimes* use watercolor pencils for sky backgrounds, and when I do starry skies I paint the stars with acrylic. But thats as far into it as I really want to go.
