Just another quickity sketch from when I was first trying out some new textured brushes. I usually wind up applying a texture layer over my stuff to make it look less flat and "digital," but this one is all just painting.
As with a lot of these kinds of experiments, I was feeling out the boundaries of "how much is too much," and I'm preeetty sure I crossed them ^_^

Yeah, that's totally a fun thing to play around with. It's funny how worthless I am with coloring when I'm not plugged into my computer, though -- haha, I'm totally on painting life support ^_^
I can...use a pencil. That's about it ^_^ Still, it's something to practice at!

Pff, I hear ya on that one. I do fine with ink and pencils...but paint just completely eludes me. >.<
I do decent with watercolor...but usually that's all luck and very little skill involved. And I don't recommend watercolor on a print anyways. If you get a little marker though or try using some pencil to get a more textured look, you never know, you might just end up with something cool.

That avatar makes me laugh every time, dude. That Nutri-Grain commercial is hilarious.
(And I'm remembering to add the line specifically about the commercial so that when you decide to change your avatar to like a symbol of your dearest religious beliefs, I'm not suddenly a horrible person, haha ^_^)

"HEY! You're hot and I feel great - lets get married" "Allright, but I want lots of kids!" "Me too - fivehundred of them - UUUUUFFFF!" "Yeeeah... babies EVERYWHERE!"
Hah, join the club. I just had to use this. I mostly hate commercials, but that Nutri-Grain commercial is damn comedy gold! good that it makes you laugh :9
(And no worries, I go 50/50 with my avatars. Other half is funny stuff like this and other half is me failing to draw avatar of my cat. No need to be afraid of laughing to odd religious beliefs :D )

Thanks! It's also a lot more practical for me, because I'm really slow and meticulous with linework, so doing stuff with finished lines takes me hours and hours. If I just jump into painting and play around with that, I can do a lot more a lot faster. I think all of the newer stuff I've posted so far has all just been single session, sit-down-and-do-it stuff, which is nice when you're busy with other things in life ^_^
Go for it! There's a hojillion places for info and tips on painting in Photoshop (or whatever you choose to use), but I can heartily recommend checking out the forums at places like www.conceptart.org for some great tutorials on things like brushes and texture and color theory and figure drawing and perspective and...
No matter what medium you choose, a lot of it will probably be applicable, so you might take a peek! The site's also chock full of amazing concept art from some industry pros that's awesome material for inspiration ^_^

No problem ^_^ It's an art community, after all.
I feel kinda bad that I don't reply to everybody who says something, because I totally appreciate all the feedback, but I don't want to clog up the page with a bunch of "Thanks!" notes. If folks have specific questions or comments, though, I'm totally happy to answer what I can ^_^
