They switched specifically to P-90s because of the special small armor piercing rounds they have, much more effective at Jaffa armor than M5s, also remember that the technology they are designed against are energy weapons, Thor once said that neither the Goa'uld or Asgard would ever thing to make a weapon based on bits of metal fired from the combustion of powders.
