Dr. Anselm, a.k.a. Black Bag, is a grumpy old man who's sort of a cross between Dr. House and Dr. Frankenstein. He travels around and provides medical services, occasionally hunting down dangerous monsters and using them for spare parts in his surgeries and in the creation of creatures like Dexter, Fyodor and Nightmare.

Maureen, the girl in the picture, is his assistant to pay off her village's debt after Black Bag saved them from a monster. He had an apprentice before her, but there was an incident that led to his mind being transferred into a child's body and a bad falling out between them, and Maureen came along later.

Wow, this is looking pretty cool. I'm eagerly anticipating more :)

As the guy who commissioned this piece, unfortunately for those hoping for more, I only paid for one page and there isn't really a story to go with this snippet (yet.) I just wanted Karno to do something that would introduce the characters, and he did a fantastic job.
