Note: Since a lot of you seem to be complaining about it, I feel that it is necessary to say that this game attempts to model realism. If your character seems to be losing weight, despite your best efforts, check to make sure that your metabolism isn't too high (over 250-300 kcal per hour is high), and that your digestion rate isn't too low (under 0.30-0.50 pounds per hour is low). Also, what you eat makes a difference. If you eat something that is large that only gives you a few calories (e.g. lean meat) you'll most likely either break even or lose weight. This is not a bug, this is how the game was built.
If for whatever reason the link above 404's on you, that either means I'm currently updating the file OR I've exceeded my bandwidth. As such, I implore you to only download once a day. Dropbox only gives me 10GB a day and while that sounds huge, it can dissipate fairly quickly.
Since it runs on Java, you naturally need to go download it before this will work. If it doesn't run and you have Java installed, make sure the version of Java that you have is the most current one. If you've done all that and it still doesn't work, then refer to the bottom of this description for debugging information.
Since this game generates a Data folder for save information, it is suggested that you place the jar file in its own folder. Once you start the jar, it is STRONGLY SUGGESTED that you do not move and or delete the generated Data folder. This will cause the loss of your save and your ability to save. If you do accidentally delete it, the game will always generate one on start up if it isn't there.

Alright, new release tonight. That god damn map took forever, especially since it just decided to break right before releasing this update. ;-;. Also, you'll probably need to start a new character.
If you're disappointed that a change was not made in this release, please feel free to remind me, as it gets hard to remember everything posted here. Also, probably going to submit a new submission as this page is...getting pretty full of comments. Alright, goodnight!

August 26th, 2012 (1:50)
Alright, its finally here, the dev link I promised. Now, if you refer to the change log down below, you'll notice it doesn't have...nearly what I said I was going to try and accomplish this weekend, but some features (I'M LOOKING AT YOU NATURAL HUNGER EFFECT) took longer than expected to implement. However, I am quite pleased with what I've accomplished.
That being said, the current release is in debug mode. I did this so that you, the user, can explore all the currently implemented features of the game, which is a grand total of 1 event and a handful of items. However, while this might not seem like a lot, each item and event responds differently depending on your body metrics, so I encourage you to explore them.
Also, as the game is in debug mode, the files it generates for your character are in plain text, but please don't go mucking around in there. While it most likely won't cause any overt problems, it could make the save unstable or fail to load. If you do this and wonder why the game won't work...well, you don't need to be playing games.
Other than that, I ask that you have fun and to feel free to post any comments listing bugs or typos, as I'm sure there will be quite a few. Thanks!

If your game is not working for some reason, and you've tried everything I've suggested, then what you need to do is run the jar file through the command prompt or console. Google how to access this for your respective operating systems. Once you're there, change to the directory containing the jar file. The command you'll need to launch it from the console will look something like
Where <JARNAME> is the name of the jar file. If it says that java is not a recognized command, then you need to either install java (which means you shouldn't even be reading this) or that you need to set the path variable to java's bin folder. Google how to do this.
If the command works, keep the console open and read what it generates. If it starts talking about Exceptions and whatnot, copy that (right click and copy, do NOT use Ctrl+C in the command prompt, as this does not copy) and send me a note with it in it. I'll try to see what's wrong, but I cannot guarantee I can fix it.
If you have any legitimate, non-Googleable questions, please feel free to ask, but do try to answer simple questions on your own. I'll try to be patient, but if you don't try, I won't either.

Erm That's about it
The meat and stuff? That's fine to generate randomly.
But
BUT
The tinder and the bras and crap? No need?
You need an editor. Ypu ypu yup.
Not me, I'm drunkotter.
If any of the text is just horribly screwed up, please either send me a note or post it here so I can fix it. Thanks! ^_^
*Your strength decreased by 0."
My strength is at 11. Not sure if this is a thing or if I'm just at the minimum strength.
10/10
Also, glad you liked it, and I'll be sure to update as soon as possible ^_^
Take your time with updates, we can wait if we must! I may not understand all the work that goes into developing a game like this, but I do understand that it's a lot of work!
Just pointing it out. o.o
Right, so I have a character that's gotten pretty short thanks to a few mystery potions. As a result, she's at a pretty high BFP (38.4%) while only 137.63 pounds in weight. Even though this weight is in general pretty light, it seems to cause a "bridge that looks very sturdy" (or any bridge that appears to be in good condition) to give the "nearly breaking under your weight" situational response. Are the event's possible outcomes tied specifically to BFP rather than weight?
The mystery potions really don't like me.
Also, yes, that's understandable. I think I remember you saying that one will eventually be able to learn the differences between potions. Is that true? If every potion is a crapshoot where the house almost ALWAYS wins, I might just end up avoiding them entirely.
You've also got a few status effects for extreme starvation, but do you plan on ever adding consistent deteriorating health (into death) to those? Right now it's extremely easy to drop your greed to nothing or unimmobilize yourself by just waiting endlessly.
Immobilization isn't implemented, no, but it will be in updates further down the road. I figure in the lower tiers of immobilization, there'll be a mini game you can play to attempt to move to the next cell which would, of course, get harder the heavier you got until it was basically impossible. Also, immobilization will open up new events and such, so that the game doesn't just end when you've gotten too big.
And starvation is actually supposed to kill you, but sleeping recovers the HP you would have lost due to starving. I was going to fix that before the release, but ran out of time.
Few things:
-Your descriptions and writing skills are amazing. The game feels and plays like a professionally done game.
-Your multiple descriptions are awesome and keep things fresh.
-I enjoy the multiple factors counting towards expansion rates.
-The expansion of breasts seems much higher than waist expansion, not sure if that was intentional, but I went through 5 bras before I broke my first pair of pants.
-Potions have the ability to quickly change weight stats in ridiculous ways (I'm assuming they scale based on weight, since I was losing 60-70 pounds on them towards the end)
But I'm seriously in love with this. I can't wait for the next update!
-Thanks once more. There probably should be more, but it starts getting hard to write so many branches of text.
-Thanks once again, though I can't take all of the credit, as the underlying formulas determining body size were developed by
-Sounds like you had a top heavy body type. The game randomly generates 5 different body types for females (average, bottom heavy, middle heavy, top heavy, and curvy).
-The mystery potion scales according to whatever stat it is affecting. I think there's a 1 in 50 chance of it triggering the weight gain event, so I felt it needed to be considerable.
And I'm glad you liked it!
But, yay for savescumming, having a 866 lb, 48% body fat, 9'1" dragoness with a 68 lb. stomach capacity (though it takes almost three days to digest such a meal). XD I'm guessing your own weight goes into metabolism, because mine's at 528 kcal/hr, despite the several metabolism reductions, and I have an empty inventory.
Speaking of large stomach capacities and tall dragonesses...feature suggestion, albeit partly due to my vore kink which brought me here, live prey. Can't be eating 3 lb. meat cuts at that kind of size, right? ;3 Honestly, I've been editing in 80-120 lb. fatty cuts of meat to imagine such a thing, heh. Though, I imagine if you, say, try to swallow whole, if you quit midway through, you won't get anything, or worse, have struggling prey stuck in your throat to cough up, maybe costing you stamina, HP, or something like that. Or maybe there's a separate throat capacity for that. Maybe have prey with different personalities, ranging from doing anything to get away (which I imagine would be the end most are closer to) to enjoying it, or maybe very, very rarely asking to be eaten by certain -strange- people... XD
Also noticed a rather strange bug. It seems like the bras fit -more- snugly when you get a shrinking potion (I've had bras break when I shrink), and it seems like chest size does nothing to bust the bras, but maybe that last part is just me, as my formerly skinny, slim dragoness had tiny A breasts at first.
Sorry if that's a long post, but my descriptive posts tend to get long and wordy. XD'
And yes, weight factors into your metabolism. The heavier you get, the more calories you expend.
Once NPCs are added to the game, you'll have the option to eat them. For normal-sized anthros, this will probably require unlocking through some kind of special event. If ferals ever get thrown back in, they'll have the option if they're large enough. Alas, good job on modding the inventory file and not breaking your save. =P
The bra thing might seem strange, but its not a bug. Rather, it is simply how the game calculates body part sizes. If you're shorter, the fat on your body has fewer places to be distributed, and thus things expand out while you shrink, hence the increase. If the increase effect increased your fat weight as well as your height, proportional to one another, you'd most likely burst out of your clothes.
And, the chest size kind of factors in, but it was odd to write the descriptions for bra strap and cup separately, so I condensed the two measurements into one. The cup size is definitely the more important.
Also, thanks for the plaintext save files, but two objects (effects, inventory) have no file extension, meaning each time I wanna mess around with them I have to manually select notepad+
The save files will eventually be scrambled, so opening them with anything but the game itself will just give you garbage. I just do this so that you don't get bored with the game because you've already done everything through messing with save files. I may include a debug mode that will save in plaintext instead. Dunno.
In any case, great job so far. I think I've officially spent too much time with this already and I'm still enjoying it. As bare bones as it is, I can already tell there's going to be a lot of breadth to this game of yours. I think all the bugs I noticed have been mentioned already so all I can say is good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
And thanks! I do have some excited content planned for the next few updates, so stay tuned! :3
How would one avoid such a fate in the future? raising strength to cope with the added bulk?
Consider this a cautionary tell for adventurers!
But, if you have the information, please send it to me. It should tell us what's going on.
When attempting to select a default program and choosing java.exe or javaw.exe it refuses to add it to the default program list... Still no luck on getting it working
http://launch4j.sourceforge.net/index.html
There is also a chance that it does nothing that I havent already been trying, but I think its could be worth a shot.
I've been playing with this (editing the data files, too, naughty, right?) for a few hours and you've obviously put a tremendous amount of quality work into this. I am really, really looking forward to seeing what this develops into as time goes on. For now, I just have two suggestions:
1. If more keyboard commands can be implemented for the right-hand menu, that would save a lot of time. It's a pain having to individually click items, click "combine" or "discard" or "whatever," and it'd be a pretty sweet option to just click the item, hit the key, hit the next item, hit the key, etc. This also reduces the chance of accidentally hitting the wrong button, which brings me to
2. There are a few spots where very different buttons are very close to each other, with no two-click protection. Save, Save & Quit, and Quit are bad ones to hit accidentally, as is Discard for items.
I'm curious about the tailoring feature -- is that high on the priority list? Will you be able to have clothes tailored loosely or snugly? Thanks again for the game -- you did not disappoint!
For your suggestions:
1. That's a great suggestion and one I'll add in future updates. The only issue is that combine still requires some mouse interaction (to select a new item). I'll work on making the entire GUI keyboard controllable, though it might not all get in the next update.
2. Yes, you are right. I tried to move Save, Save & Quit, and Quit away from places you'd accidentally hit, but adding in a "Are You Sure?" option is definitely something I'll do. As for discard, adding in protection might cause annoyance for when you need to delete a lot of things. I could think about moving it (as I have). I had actually been thinking about having a lock system, where you simply lock what you don't want to discard and then hit discard all (at which point having the "are you sure" option would be less annoying).
Tailoring will be added as soon as persistent, dynamic locations are added, the first of which will be towns, in which case yes, I don't see why you couldn't have it tailored to any specification. Furthermore, thinking of adding a feature in which randomly generated clothes might have a 1 in XX chance in fitting exactly to your character. This would be more useful when you got bigger, and tailoring got more expensive. In the mean time, there might be a traveling...tailor? Or, better yet, a field sewing kit item that could make minor adjustments on the leather.
Other than that, thanks for the excellent suggestions and compliments!
The funniest thing though, was when I rested for bit and suddenly I was getting extreme hunger pangs. This is with a stomach at about 50/160lb capacity still 70k calories consumed and a waistline of about 80 inches. I couldn't keep any weight, going down to 0 body fat on and actually started starving, even with a massive stomach! XD I had to eat about 30 pieces of meat just to feel sated again. Crazy!
The hunger pangs are determined by how large your stomach is. So if you have an incredibly large stomach, you will get hungry, a lot. Of course, obtaining a stomach capacity of 100lbs in the game, when debug mode is disabled, will be very hard. But if you do obtain it, you need only simply switch your meals from pieces of meat to NPCs =P
1)I managed to get the weight gain challenge stuck at a point where it kept making my stomach grow larger for more food so i was able to easily repeat this process over and over with no repercussions. Also i seemed to notice that this did not affect greed in any way either.
2) Str caps off at 19. I started off from a relatively low strength and tried to get it higher through potions, but so far it caps off at 19 and won't continue to go up. I'm not sure if this is intentional but i've been able to make a starting character with 20 Str before so i dont know.
3) There's a slight grammar error when moobs start to form as well. I can't say it exactly since i forgot to right down the quote.
I also have a few suggestions
1) You might want to make the inventory management easier/quicker to use. I find myself with up to 70 pants and bras and having to drop them all one by one.
2) I did some testing with the potions and i find the ration between Positive and negative potions to be to large a gap. I drank 30 potions in a row and most of them had some negative effects so i would just that slightly if i were you so players don't get frustrated with the current mystery potions.
That's all i have to report for now, hope this helps in any way.
1. Weird, I'll have to look into that. Also, the greed thing was dialed way too far back. Going to fix that for sure.
2. No idea whats up the STR. There shouldn't be a cap. I'll also look into that.
3. Doesn't surprise me. Consider it fixed.
1(O.o). Yep, there'll be a group discard in the next update.
2. That mystery potion will most likely be re-labeled "Lesser Mystery Potion." There'll be tons of potions in the game, including ones you brew yourself. I'll imagine mystery potions will not be used very often, due to the gamble of using them.
Again, thanks for all of the bug watching. It definitely helps make the next updates even better for everyone else! ^_^
It's brought on anytime you bust out of an article of clothing.
Denoatation, I believe.
Detonation*.
Thank you for your time.
Also: Great game. Spent some time perfecting my writing skills if you need any help with writing scenarios, or the like.
Also, I'd love help, but it'll be much further down the road, once the dev becomes an alpha. At that point, I'll accept event and item ideas from all of the users.
Oh, and another issue I think(Key word being think) I've caught.
Having to do with potions, and certain effects.
The effect in question being that of reducing one's metabolism. For some reason, it seems to either add to, or completely disregard the subtraction from said metabolism, but only if the quantity by which it was supposed to be reduced exceeds that of a hundred calories or more.
It's rather odd.
also, if i can make a suggestion, add a health counter on the text box screen for when you get the poison random potion, because i got caught off guard entirely when my potion killed me
And adding something like that really isn't feasible without considerable overhauling, as Java's GUI support doesn't really like for you to add a life bar (or anything similar) just straight into a text box. I'll look into making health depletion more obvious in the future.
Thanks for the comments!
I see what you're saying about that, and yes it now makes a lot more sense to me in how that gets determined. I wonder if maybe height should factor into those descriptors somehow? Out of curiosity, I got my character to be very tall using mystery potions (and a lot of reloads) to see the results. Honestly, I don't know that this is really much of a problem, but in case you're interested here goes.
Right now my character is 19'10" and described as "heavy" (so not even yet chubby) and his belly is described as swaying "like pendulum made of pure fat." Granted, he's about 5,842 pounds with nearly 1,418 of that being fat, but that works out to about 24.27% body fat.
I made another character and avoided letting their height change for comparison. That one's 5'7". I got him very close to that percentage; he has 24.54% body fat. His description is that his "belly jiggles when he walks or moves and has started to sag slightly."
I'll also give you that the first character is described as having 7.49 inches of fat around his waist while the second only has 2.88 inches. Then again, just using those two characters as examples, I wonder how much 7.49 inches of fat around the middle would matter on someone 19'10" versus 5'7".
Like I said, I'm not even sure this is a problem at all. I just found it curious so I thought I'd share it. It's not like I know anyone who's 19'10" to help me visualize this more directly, lol.
Thank you for the diligent debugging! :D
When you finally add some NPC's, will they each react differently to you depending on your stats?
Sometimes you'll have, say, the strength reduction potion but it won't include a numeric effect, just the text. Another instance, it would correctly display the intended effect, +1 strength say, but not give yout the point.
Even in this stage, it's still a lot of fun to play, great work Vilified! *pings a burrito your way*
Thanks!
Stuff I'd like to see (sorry if these've already been mentioned, I tried to scan the comments, but there's a lot of them! )
I think someone up above mentioned the option to discard a bunch of one type of item at a time. I'd like to add to that, the ability to cook or salt all of your food at once.
And I wouldn't mind some kind of "Identify" or "Appraise" skill to figure out what all those "mysterious potions" do before testing them. Especially after you've experienced the same one a few times, you'd think you'd eventually be able to recognize it.
As to the mystery potions, their effect isn't determined until you consume them. The game doesn't even know until you do it. Mystery potions are meant to be a gamble. There'll be other potion items in the game that have definite effects, including ones you brew yourself.
Sorry if I seemed a little short in my post, I do appreciate your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed what you've seen thus far. Just, you know, long day ;-;
Would it require a major change to the gui? Because it looks like the cooked and uncooked foods are grouped separately (though the salted and unsalted appear to be lumped.)
Later thoughts:
When I forage, all the action options disappear until I move again. So, for example, I can't forage twice in a row, or forage then rest, or whatever. Not a big problem, but probably not intentional.
Bras - the cups get up to some huge sizes, but I don't think I've seen any chest-band over 24-25, nor does that appear to affect the fit of the bra, no matter how large my chest-measurement gets.
Whenever you drink a mystery potion, and end up with the bid of stomach capacity decreasing. For some reason it adds weight to your stomach, even if its empty.
Example: Character had a stomach capacity of 122.6lbs.
Rolled something like minus 18lbs, and even though her stomach had been empty at the time, it resulted in the character supposedly having 122.6lbs/104, or something similar.
And thanks! I welcome all fan boys. =P
Okay okay. Two things:
First: Vhat a twvist!
Second: Where'd you hear that from?
Life comes first,
It's nice that you take your own personal time out to do all of this. . .<Insert further sappy things here, etctera.>

maybe even a favourite food system that lowers the difficulty of the consume challenge if the character likes the food but makes the consume challenge more difficult if the character doesn't like the food
As to favorite food, this is a little bit more difficult to implement in a realistic manner, but I'll certainly consider it.
Both excellent suggestions! Thanks.
When your strength is high enough, and either/both metabolism/body fat is low enough, moving around costs no Stamina points.
The poison effect of Mystery Potion says it is "Poision".
A toned chest is called "tonned".
Yes, I bothered to lose a lot of weight to check things.
I also found something that surprised me so much I wasn't sure if it was a bug or if was an error on my part. I remember coming across a small arboreal forest (I think it took up two spaces in the middle of a grass plain). I don't know if I was in it or the plain when I got it, but after foraging I went to toss my extra tinder boxes and found one was green. I had found a gnomish tinder box. I looked at it and thought, "Sweet, never ending tinder box!" It weighed 8.99 pounds but I decided I was keeping it regardless.
Now this is where I'm not absolutely sure because I saved and left for a bit. I am about 80% I saved with the tinder box and that I never tossed it. When I went back to my game, the gnomish tinder box was gone. I'm pretty sure it's a bug because at one point, either after finding or tossing another, regular tinder box I suddnely had a regular one that weighed 8.99 pounds. I'm assuming that this is either not fully implemented yet or extremely rare, because I've been foraging in and around that forest since and haven't found another one.
But seriously, thanks. With this giant wall of comments telling me all of these bugs, you'd think I hadn't debugged this thing at all ;-;
Also:
"Your breasts are covered by a loose bra, which provides some support but allowes your tits to bounce around much too much (I'd change this to 'far too much'), to the delight of onlookers."
"Covering your breasts is a very loose leather bra. The bra givese your tits virtually no support as they bounce freely in the oversized leather cups."
"You suddenly hear a loud rip as the seams on your pants blow apart around your thighs. Looking down, you find your pants in shreads around your apparently large thighs."
You may also change those lines up a bit so you have less use of the word 'thighs.'
This will be my last post on this submission for awhile, I promise.
And its really no problem. You've been a ton of help tonight.
Speaking of which...
"Your breasts are covered by a leather bra is that tight around your chest and breasts."
I question though: will humans also be available or just furries/beast races?
The concept of a cap, per se, is kind of in effect? If I've studied this correctly, the game is coded in such a way that pants are generated on a variable scale of 27.91 to 38.01(BAsed off my own experience, mind you.) When the game is further updated, with towns and such, you'll be able to go to towns and such to get your articles of clothing tailored.
It's the second one down, below the pony thread.
Because, when I found my first one, it was only a few pounds. And, as the weight went up, the more weight the Mystery Potion with the WG effect gave.
Just a thought, you might want to set Swing to use the system look and feel, the Metal L&F can look a bit tired these days.

With two cardonal points in place, it looks like it's been reflected somehow
So probably just got the rows and columns swapped, and forgot to flip the positive and negative directions of the axes.
Either that, or the map needs to be flipped left/right and up/down, when drawing it, and keep everything else the same.
A request though, as I've only just noticed from the comments that there are in fact different body types in the game- is it possible to get an indication of this in the character description? It doesn't need to obviously spelled out (eg, body shape: x) but i would be nice if it was somehow incorporated in the appearance description.
Some examples of phrasing:
"Your ____ body stands at..."
average: "solid"
bottom heavy: "pear shaped" "bell shaped"
middle heavy: "apple shaped" "tubby" "round"
top heavy: "busty" "buxom" "chesty"
curvy: "curvy" "hourglass"
Further description can define changing body shapes, such as being skinny can lead to being "supposedly x" and on the other end of the spectrum "pretty/very/overly/highly/extemely x" etc for increasing weight.
Can something like this be implemented?
New update!
Unfortunately, I've noticed another error! (Sorry.)
Cool water. Everything else is on point, but for some reason its temperature is usually -16, or -17, degrees farenheit.
Unless this is another planet or something, the cool water should be frozen through.
Also, definitely let "lock" be used on groups.
And yes, I agree. Consider it added.
In all seriousness, I've had a blast playing this. Thank you for making it. Given how much you've obviously put into this, I wish I could offer more help than sit here just point out bugs, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to coding. (I can write, but I'm assuming you don't even need extra sources for content at this early stage and it seems like you have a lot planned as it is.)
It could just be me, but it seems like the new map generation process makes a lot of arboreal forest blocks (squares, locations, something?). Other "foresty" blocks seem frequent at least, like taiga. Savannas were sparse, but there were a couple good sized ones. Grass plains seem to have become tiny and uncommon. I tried it a couple times at least and saw this happen. For all I know the seeds have a "base" biome and I just happened to get arboreal forests both times, but just in case I thought I'd mention it.
The only other thing at the moment that I've noticed was when a mushroom gave my character the slowing metabolism effect. In the last line is says "Snaking has never been more dangerous!"
There are also various types of worlds. Some worlds are extremely cold and dry, while others are extremely hot and wet. I think there's about 42 different combinations of world types. Also, each world has 250,000 cells, so biomes can be pretty big, especially near the bottom.
Also, none of this would be possible without players diligently testing and debugging. I appreciate it and glad you enjoy playing.
Also also, typo is fixed. Thanks! ^_^
From what I could tell, more moderate maps tend to be dominated by arboreal forests and plains are often sparse, though that wasn't necessarily always the case. Of the twenty, only five had over 500 grassy plains cells and eleven had none. The most I saw was 8,071, which seemed somewhat reasonable. It's a little over 3% of the map. It dropped sharply after that. The next highest number of them was 1,532, which is only about 0.6% of the map.
From what I've seen there are thirteen different biomes, unless I missed any. If the cells were distributed between them evenly they'd each get around 19,230. Again, I'm not sure if this is much of an issue. It was just a moment of curiosity on my part again since, as we'd mentioned, we'd expect plains to be fairly common. I was looking for those primarily for that same reason. I figured I'd share this in case it was relevant at all.
But my question is: how long are the mushroom effects supposed to last? Eating more mushrooms after the first doesn't appear to replace the first effect, or add new effects, so I'm assuming they only non-save way to get rid of it is to wait out some kind of time limit, eventually?
I think you should modify the description a bit, maybe at least mentioning they are completely obscured by a thick layer of fat. Although I think the word "ripped"is realy out of place anyway once you get above a certain body fat percentage.
Also: Mushrom Effects disappear after re-loading the save-game.
And that is now fixed. I might update a bug fix later this afternoon with that. Emphasis on word might.
Its like those guys who say "If I wasn't fat I would have a six pac!"
"Further down, your waist curves out to your 72,1 inch hips and your 125,33 inch, sagging butt. Each butt cheek weighs 85,41 lbs. This connects to your 37,56 inch, thunder thighs. Your thighs are so large and push apart so much that they force you to waddle when you walk."
The fact that you need butt-cheeks which almost weight as much as a person to develop a pair of thunder-thighs doesn't seem right to me
Your anthropomorphic body stands at 5'7" tall and weighs in at 151,67 lbs. You are heavy and have weak, barely visible muscles. Your soft neck sports one chin with another chin on its way.
But honestly, I would word most of the character description differently, currently it reads too much like a scientific report imho.
If you give me a chance I could try to work something out for you, then you can decide if you like it or not and take from it whatever suits your need. Would that be ok?
Also, the text log on the left seems to stop auto-scrolling when the "vomit" event occurs.
And its possible that you may have moved the scroll bar slightly? If not, Java's text boxes do like to randomly decide to stop auto scrolling from time to time. I'll look into it.
-Fixed that hopefully.
-Will be fixing that, thanks.
-Same here.
-And good god, how did you do that? Mushrooms? O.o And yes, its very easy to change how many decimals I can display or even the units, so I'll definitely consider adding that feature in future updates.
Thanks! ^_^
Now to move onto info about possible bugs that I hope can help you.
Two things I noticed are as follows, I do not know if either of these were intentional, So I am so sorry if they were.
1.If you eat one mushroom and get your effect from it. Then eat another you can see if you watch your stats that the other mushroom still has its effect, but there is no effect listed past the first one in the (Status -> Effects) menu.
2. Filling your stomach now increases greed easily and is working as intend it seems. But Filling your stomach no longer stretches its size.
I'm very sorry either or both of these were intentional, I hope they helped you. If not Just take a big thank you from me and know you have another supporter.
Your stomach still stretches, just not immediately after a meal. It stretches when you rest while overstuffed.
I imagine it would be possible, and maybe Vilified will take this as a suggestion if he hasn't already got something like this planned, to make a potion (a temporary effect one I imagine) that would reduce the impact of weight on a character, which would in turn also reduce your metabolism. I don't know Java well enough myself to know how easy or difficult it would be to add an effect that would require inserting another operator into the calculation, so I could be talking out my rear there. I mostly mention it to just add to the understanding of why you reach that point where the metabolism goes no lower.
Totally looking forward to moar updates. =3
Digestion helps speed up calorie intake, and thermogenesis and carry weight affect metabolism, so don't stay somewhere too cold and ditch spare tinderboxes, apparel, salt, etc. after foraging.
If you're having a lot of trouble gaining, or is steadily losing weight, then it's possible that your digestion rate is so low that your character can't convert the food into calories quick enough. Somewhere up the board, it was recommended you try to keep a digestion rate roughly around 0.50 lbs/hr for rapid gains.
I'm curious as to how adding a settlement(s) will be implemented- everyone makes a new character to spawn in town, or given set coordinates for pre-existing characters to trek to?
Also, I don't think that a person with 0% bodyfat can actually have more than one chin. Might be an idea of having the body fat in there as a variable to get the displayed result.
Yes, I'm trying to starve my char just out of curiousity.
As to the exponential stats, that has been fixed in 0.33.1.

As you can see a 30 foot increase in height and a what 300% increase in weight.
also might want to have stomach capacity increase with the rest of the body when the mushroom effects are active
What happened to the stretching out your Stomach when you gorge your self?
Also, I had an issue where my character died from hypothermia in the desert. What a tragic ending. I figure it had something to do with being in a cold climate for a very long time (I wasn't paying attention to my map.), but the hypothermia remained even when I went into the desert. I couldn't tell you how this happen as it's only happened once so far.
Otherwise you've got a great thing going on here. Good luck to you and best wishes.
(strength potion +) Thighes should be Thighs
Body shrinking has reverse affects on bra.
Bra reports getting tighter when shrinking
and looser when getting larger.
"*As you swallow down the clear liquid, you suddenly feel like the world around you is getting bigger. Its at this point you realize the potion has caused you to shrink! Hopefully nothing steps on you!
*Your leather bra has gotten tighter. Looks like either you're still a growing girl, or you've been packing on the pounds."
"*As you swallow down the clear liquid, you notice the ground seems to be getting further away. Dropping the bottle in surprise, you notice your entire body is growing bigger. Not only are you getting taller, but your back and tail are getting longer, and your waist is expanding. Its as if the bottle had accelerated your natural growth!
*Your leather bra has loosened up. Maybe you lost some weight?"
Bras don't spawn below A cup
C cups rarely spawn
Pants down spawn above 37.5 inches
.01 extra ounce exists in cooked food items
Changing the stomach capacity removes contents of stomach
Bad math on waist size
"Below, your chest curves in to a 53.59 inch waist (on an empty stomach) sporting a layer of fat 0.49 inches thick. The food in your stomach-stretchingly full stomach causes your belly to stick out an extra 44.91 inches, leaving your total waist at 88.86 inches."
"Body shrinking has reverse affects on bra."
He addressed this in the comments already. When potions change the body size the amount of fat on the character stays the same, so they'll get skinnier as they get taller and fatter as they get shorter. In short, the available fat gets redistributed over the body. So if the character gets taller then there's less fat available for the breasts, which is why the game calculates them as getting smaller. They're getting flatter against the chest as you get taller and fuller as you get shorter. You may get messages about the strap size being too small or too large as your size changes, but I'm not sure that's fully implemented yet.
"Bras don't spawn below A cup"
They do. I saw a AA cup once, which is smaller.
"C cups rarely spawn"
I imagine that was just your luck with those. I had a game where I got a few C cup sized bras not too far apart during foraging. It turns out she had B size breasts at the time. That didn't last though.
"Pants down spawn above 37.5 inches"
I admit I'm less sure since it was never mentioned as far as I can tell, but something tells me he's aware of that at the moment. This is still in development builds so we shouldn't be too surprised by things like that.
"Changing the stomach capacity removes contents of stomach"
That one's also answered in a comments, a couple times. If you read it carefully it's actually an effect of the potion. If the mystery potion increases stomach capacity it also empties the stomach but retains your calorie count, which can allow your character a quick calorie burst. Contrarily, if the mystery potion decreases your stomach capacity it also fills it without adding calories, so it has a sort of "magical diet drink" effect.
As to a more severe penalty to stuffing yourself too much, I think that is in order. I mean, everything else in this game attempts, at least, to be fairly realistic. I might as well add it.
On that note, I think there will be two modes to the game. One is the hardcore mode, which is, at the moment default. The game attempts to be realistically hard, making gaining fairly slow. The other mode would remove things like temperature management, food poisoning, etc., as well as decreasing what is needed to gain weight. This is so that both camps of people, those that enjoy realism and those that don't, will hopefully be happy.
On that note- you might want to consider making it impossible to quit out of greed-induced consume challenges. As it stands, you can just click "stop eating" as soon as the dialog pops up, and pretend it never happened. It takes a lot of the gravity of the situation away. :P
It'll be fixed next update, whenever that is. D:
Butt checks should be cheeks.
Inflation.
Confession: I tried using a Java decompiler to extract the .java files, but there were several errors, and it'd take me a bit of time to figure out what coding is supposed to go there. It'd be a lot faster if I had the original code. I know that's even more stuff to upload/download, but it would be worth it, in my opinion.
Fix it.
other than that this game is AWESOME!!!! its just that it would be nice if the potions had labes... but i guess it would defeat the purpous of the game
she weighs 136.54 lbs (71.67Fat/64.87Lean) she's 4ft tall and has a stomach capacity of 0.45lbs matabolism: 368.12, Digestion: 0.38
How about some item which make to know it's edible to consume and how about breads and combine meats all together and eat em' all same time?
But wheres towns or kingdoms? And need some more different clothes.
Thank you.
Soooooooo, it might take awhile, but I will keep everyone posted and update in shapshots in the mean time, if I can.
These are all suggestions there is no obligation for you to use them. Except for the one about combat that is a given.
If you want any more just ask!
Bye!
Two: He already has a rather complex magic system in mind to be implemented.
Three: I think he said he was going to do away with the conventional "explore" button, but there will be areas to explore.
Just take a look through his journals; you'll get an idea of what he's hoping to accomplish.

Not to mention a myriad of other ones, like Noone's game.
You keep getting sick or extremely sick probably because your character rolled a very small stomach capacity. Gain isn't going to happen right away you just have to keep at it.
The metabolism rises and falls a lot. It depends on a lot of factors such as... how much you ate recently, how much inventory you're carrying, how fast it was to start how far you traveled and so on and so forth.
I find it more rewarding to play this game than I do others and can't wait for it to update. Well, I can wait because I have to but you get the idea.
I didn't know of the inventory but I just tried to get it down, my inventory I guess is what filled it up because in less than hour it went from 200 to 500. And this should make it pretty clear I looked at the stats quite often. ^^
The only reason I said this is so I can come back a few months or so later and see he has fixed and made things better. For when I just played and tried it for a few hours as I said previously: Everything made me lose weight even eating by some random reason, I feel like he will have to work on this lose weight system just a tiny bit, maybe not losing weight when you still got food in your stomach? Moving around and losing I can understand but eating? Sleeping with full stomach? That is why I just didn't get how to gain weight in the game since no matter what I did it kept going down. But I guess too much inventory. ^^ So a manual would be appreaciated, but I know he started this just a month ago and it takes time, so I only wanted to give something he might want to consider to fix or others like you could get ideas from to mention. ^^
I'll post again if a redownload solves this, so you know to somewhat disregard this.
P.S. got a good base game running here, I like.
1. Multiple consumption: Either by SHIFT or CTRL-clicking to highlight, or selecting the group category, or, preferably, both, and pressing the "consume" button. Then the game'll step through the consumption challenge for each item.
2. Fire breath ability for dragons: Eventually it'll be used in combat and other stuff, but right now it could work like the tinderbox for lighting fires to cook things, using a small amount of MP per item instead of tinderbox uses.
And a bug, that might be intentional: When the forage action or greed auto-eat activate, you can't do any more actions without moving in the world; I'd expect at least being able to rest.
You've got the beginnings of a nice game here, Vilified. Thanks for sharing it with us, and keep up the good work!
In future releases, I think descriptions for arms and feet should be added for completeness, and chest descriptions could be a bit more fleshed out for males. (also, cross-dressing maybe? ehh? ehh?)
Generally, I'd like to see how the relation between fat and muscle affects character description.
I also think it would be interesting for descriptions of bloating/stuffing/whatever to relate to body types. Like, if you're really skinny, mentioning how much it sticks out from your frame, or if you're very lean and muscled, how it rounds off one's abdominal muscles. Very fat characters might feel more than see those effects.
The latter part sounds like it would be ultra complicated. I'm just throwing stuff out there.
Also, for the far future: it might be cool to have to fight your way through larger enemies for huge clothing drops (or maybe just to save money on tailoring), and for areas with larger humanoid enemies to have as large forage-able clothing.
I can't seem to get my character to become fat...
It's almost funny, to be honest
I am trying to eat, but everytime I try to eat something, my stomach capacity goes down
What am I doing wrong?
Please give a manual of 'how to' and what not
The word "fat" comes up 87 times. huehuehue
First of all, I'm really impressed by the amount of thought you put into this. Yes, it's nowhere near being done, but i can see where some of this may be going, and it's an impressive bunch of features.
I have to admit, however, that I am incredibly frustrated at how difficult it is to actually gain weight. x3 If it was too easy it'd be no fun, of course, but... dang. I know you're trying to simulate how people actually gain weight, as close as you can, but it would be cool to be able to break past SOME of those limitations x3 I dunno. I still admire your attention to detail. :3
This one is the most likely and my most eagerly awaited game to update.
In the meantime: Mystery Potions are your friend... Sort of. You'll probably need to do a lot of save-scumming, but there are a number of effects that you might find helpful. There's a weight-gain effect, which increases your weight by a percentage of your current weight; a anti-metabolism effect, which decreases your metabolism (by a percentage) and makes it more difficult to lose weight; a stomach-expanding effect, which, obviously, expands your stomach capacity; and a digestion effect, increasing your digestion rate and making food turn into fat faster.
nope, still there
thank you
After this screen shot I walked a single step and now he has 6007 chins. This system is wonderful and it works like real life to a satisfactory degree, but the calcs could use a hand with a minimum height. I think most micro furs would be happy with 0'4".
That's...alot
And making this a flash program would be more effort than its worth. I would have to completely rewrite the code in actionscript, and then submit myself to the restrictions imposed by flash.
That's a lot. :<
Couldn't resist snarking bad programming languages, but to redeem myself with a srspost: This really does have an incredible amount of potential. I'm half-tempted to offer some proofreading support, to boot, actually. I: Maybe over winter break though, I'm stretched a little thin at the moment.
Ever considered isolating the game's strings in one spot? Maybe even its own Singleton class so that they're -really really- isolated. Conceivably you could then toss just that .java file at any potential proofreaders who understand the basics of Java without breaking/distributing your main program.
It's a thought, anyhow.
I mean for major blocks of dialogue, it may be beneficial to keep them in a centralized location. But if you're disposing of them anyhow and transitioning to a different system of getting dialogue in place, that eliminates the problem even better than my suggestion.
What I was more getting at was the idea of putting all your strings within a ResourceBundle, ala http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutor.....dle/index.html localization practices. That would enable proofreading/translation support by simply sending out plain text files to interested parties. They would not be touching your source code, nor would they necessarily have to know anything at all about Java. Might be a little overkill though, I don't know.
The scripting language may even dovetail with these methodologies, so hopefully this link is a little bit useful anyhow. .-.
aaaaah ooh lala...
~//////~
i know you're going fro realism but the current stomach shrinking and metabolism increasing rates are not realistic
2. My stomach capacity is constantly getting smaller (I'm currently at 0.17).
3. My metabolism won't stay down.
4. My digestion rate won't stay up.
5. Can't get out of the desert now matter how far in one direction I go (I've been going north ever since I started playing today and I can't seem to find that mountain range you mentioned above).
6. It keeps mentioning tailoring clothes before they burst (which is no fun XD) but I haven't found a single city or tailor shop to do so. We gonna tailor our own clothes?
7. As mentioned above, when are you going to add ferals?
8. Any plans for holiday related events and/or items? (And not just Christmas, I'm talking about other holidays as well!)
Well, that's everything I can think of at the moment, but other than that I'm really enjoying this game! Sorry about this REALLY, REALLY long post.
Stomach size decreases if you don't keep yourself fed.
Metabolism increases if you're carrying more things
Digestion rate shouldn't be decreasing. No clue what's going on there.
The world is randomly generated, and deserts are very common.
No option to tailor.
Ferals are planned for the new, graphical version of this game (see my latest journal for info) that is planned, but no further updates are going to be made for this version.
At the moment, I might release something from Christmas, but the new game will take months of development, so nothing I programmed, probably.
And no problem. Sorry you're having such a hard time in the game.
My Metabolisim is at 305.~~Kcal/hr
Drink Potion, which decreases speed by 44.~~ kcal/hr
New Metabolism is 296.54 kcal/hr
It might behoove you to put up a HOW TO PLAY and list of current features somewhere. Maybe even package it as a .txt with the game. I'm not saying it would defeat stupidity and blindness plague once and for all, but it might lessen the tide of brick headed comments.
All you have to do is put a copy of the exe file in the same folder as the Java file, then change the name of the exe to match the name of the Java file and it should load. If you were like me and were having a hard time getting any kind of Java file to work, this should be perfect!
Please help me!!!!!!!
Besides that, this game is kickass!
I've noticed as I progress (and no matter what I do to counter-act it) the stomach size steadily decreases. Is that a bug, or was that meant to be like that?
What about body type? What sort of effects will this have on gameplay?
It always stays around 250-300 for me, no matter what.
It's making it a bit difficult to not lose weight constantly.
SUGGESTIONS: Could you make greed binges check for positive caloric value? It is really weird having the player character make a big dramatic scene about how they smell food and then go rip into a four pound bag of salt or a bottle of tepid water.
Oh, and salt meat is OP compared to cooked.
After saving, make note of how many calories are in your cooked/salted piece of meat. Then, go into the data folders, find the one with "inventory" in the name and find the meat with that caloric value. It won't necessarily be marked "calories," but it should be the number that matches up with the calorie count from earlier.
Then, to that caloric value, change it. Move the decimal however many spaces you want, but be EXTREMELY careful going above 10 digits, as the game will get confused and turn it into a massive negative value. (How is it possible that food suck the calories out of you like that!?)
after a bit of patient work i managed to get over 99% boddy fat weighing in at over 10,000lb , my thighs are wider than i am tall yet im oddly not immobile, tho i do have a matabolism of over 6000/hour so this size is not sustainable as ill simply run out of food.
this was mostly achieved by geting a large number of potions, saving, drinking a few at a time saving whenever i got an effect i wanted and loading whenever i got an effect i didnt.
cooking food needs to be fixed so it is more calorie efficient per unit weight rather than less calorie efficient per unit weight than salting
it needs to be easier to stretch your stomach, especialy when it is not very big, an easy way to do this would be to have it increase by half the ammount you over fill it by every time you over fill it.
the stamina recovery on a drink needs to be increaced and various features need finishing.
wis needs a purpose as does dex, char, con, mp and gold
some npcs would be nice
item finding needs to become an event, or infact several events and things such as world map should be in your starting invantory along with some cloths that fit you.
as an afterthought it might be nice to make it possible to trade items between characters to allow one to get huge and immobile while another feeds it.
leafy
I am having some fun now that I figured out how to edit inventory, but my character died of starvation cause he was so fat XD
He never added in the content that was supposed to keep the game from effectively ending when you became immobile (essentially if your fat weight divided by your strength equals or exceeds your stamina pool, you're immobile; the only cure is to lose weight, or gain strength or stamina, until you can actually move again. If you don't have any potions or mushrooms that can do this for you you're stuck, though you could edit your character or inventory to "cheat" your way out of this condition).
If you'd like to avoid immobility would suggest trying to up your strength and stamina whenever possible. I like to do it early with potions. Managed to get over a ton but could still move!
Not sure if it's constant but it seems you regain about 7.5 SP for every hour you rest (not sure if that's fixed or if it's proportional to your stats).
If you're trying to get very large but want to stay mobile would suggest doing every thing you can to raise your strength and stamina early.
Also link is broke.

Try downloading the latest update to java and then running it.
Or I've just missed a detail, and they're still working on it. I don't know.
