An illustration of the final design for a new creature species in my Chronicles of Ademar graphic novel series.

The Grobian Species: A huge beetle-like creature that roams the barren plains of Tynan. With an impenetrable shell and natural aggressive tendencies, the insects were captured, domesticated and trained to be mindless brute soldiers for the enforcement of the Ademar traditionalist laws. Their shells are hollow and able to hold up to two people at a time for capturing and transport (this shell is used to harbor their young – born without the hardened shell – in the wild).

Finished in ink wash and watercolors.
