Finally got a good ref sketch of this guy done. This is Admiral Grayson Reed, a character who'll be making his first appearance in Red Lantern - Conviction. He's a Carvecian pir-. . . . uh. . . Privateer. Yeaaahhhhhh.
I generally despise hair on anthros, but I've always loved the idea of wolves or lions with manes, and for the Carvecians of Red Lantern, I took a lot of inspiration from the vast treasure trove of Native American-themed anthro artwork out there, with my own various twists upon it. Grayson here pretty much symbolizes the 'spirit' of the Carvecian Privateer fleet, and he's a wicked fun character to write for, and should be hella fun to illustrate when he makes his appearance.
He and Luther get along famously. There may be drinking pics of the two of them in the future. . . .
The bird of prey in this pic is a species of my own creation, btw. It's a very large raptor species the Carvecians use as couriers for important documents. They can coast for very long periods of time, and are badasses to boot.

Pirates do it for themselves.
Privateers do it for a flag.
One American privateer during the War of Independence came with the idea of sailing over to the U. K. and setting fire to ships in a port.
But alas when he got there, the British weather put a dampener on those plans... so he and the crew went to a pub

Falconry hood is missing strap below the beak and the tightening/loosening straps on the back of the hood behind the hawk's head.
I see no jesses on the birds legs or the hunting straps tied to the glove or in the falconer's hand. The typical falconer holds their fist so if there were a pole it would point up-down.
Yes, I have a vested interest in falconry, so I'm going to correct you on these technical details.

Wow that is exceedingly nice!
