A little pic I did tonight on livestream to show a friend some ideas on playing with Copics. As with most of my Care Bear stuff, I aimed for the soft, watercolorey look of Elena Kucharik's original paintings.

This fellow is another one of my cousin customs. He may look like a lion with wings but his name is actually Cryptic Heart Sphynx. I went with a lion head instead of a human child's head because I figured the effect would resemble some horrific love child between and Care Bear and a Cabbage Patch kid. He's a younger cousin, and his tummy symbol is a jeweled scarab whose body is in the shape of a heart.

Cryptic Heart is sort of like the soothsayer of the Cousins, but he's hard to understand because he's never quite sure if he's experiencing the past, the present, or the future. Sometimes he'll have a vision of the past, or of a possible future, or he could just be having some severe deja vu in the present. For example, there was that one time he was walking with some of the other Cousins to the rainbow river and had a vision of wet feathers and panicked (he haaates getting his wings wet!). Turned out Cozy Heart was swimming around in the river when they got there!

At any rate, Cryptic Heart, despite being young, is the keeper of Care Bear legend and lore. Because he experiences the past so vividly, he is a really good source for learning about history. And although his ability to have premonitions about the future has made him somewhat desirable to the baddies, they quickly discover that his inability to control or keep track of where his visions go (or even where he thinks he is!) makes him a lot more trouble than he's worth. He gets captured often, but almost always let go just as fast!

My inspiration for this character, I admit, is Idris from The Doctor's Wife. :) I imagine he talks very similarly.
