Awesome and unique commission from

This was alot of fun to do and was a great opertunity to practice my bgs.
My mountains still need alittle work, but I'm getting there
I would've liekd to have put in more koi, but I was already 5 hours over the time I was given/paid for and they weren't really needed.
total time: around 12 hours not including the sketch phase

Very nice picture indeed, just very nice. Has a very painted feel to it with the color choices ^^ The mountains don't look too bad if your going for that heavy depth-of-field effect with the blurring of them, but If youre going for the sharpness/blurry thing I think the two shrines might be too sharp. Particularily the one on the left side of the picture, it has very sharp edges and contrasts. I think some artists might also not like that it draws so much visual attention because of that. I like the way the part under the water is sorta pushed into the blue side of colors, I assume thats just how the water changes the light. Going with that sort of saturated effectfull color you could have also made the bouncelight on his upperbody glow stronger and I think it would have worked on this pic, as a possible alternative ^^ Its a good picture. Teh design on the face is really nice.

aww, I wished I could have been able to watch! ^^ 12 hours? insanity! I'd have spent the whole night peeking over your shoulder. :)
it's awesome. the details on him, like the scales patterns, the eyes, the extra carp whiskers before the eyes, and the black ears... I love, no, LOVE your interpretation!
the blurred mountains look as good as the underwater effect (fishy! <3) and the bright grass has a feel of a BBC documentary. and who knows, maybe there is a BBC team around... :)
Motaro has a point, the little shrines could have used a hint of blur to be out of focus around the central figure, but I don't mind it. :)
*hugs, headrubs, kisses your feet* thank you so much!
