When I'd learned that
Weezil had returned to "Fur Affinity" - with newer images of his massive mustelid 'fursona', I just had to draw him in a new gag - that differed from the "Occupy Buffet" Movement sketch I'd rendered him in last year...
So, this time, I've combined the elements of a 'fat furry' image with 'fan art' and a comic strip - pairing the weasel up with my bobcat 'fursona'. Being the curious cat that he is, I had 'Rob' ask 'Weezil' what type of weasel he is. "I'm a 'least weasel'..." the mustelid replied.
According to most nature guides, a 'least weasel' is the smallest member of the mustelid family. So, for 'Weezil' to call himself a 'least' is the equivalence of an average-sized human being calling himself 'the world's smallest giant' or 'the world's tallest midget'! At least (no pun intended), that's how 'Rob' sees it...
Naturally, I'd drawn 'Weezil' with his usual fat belly - stuffing himself, this time, with bags of cheese puffs... which, BTW, is a reference to something from the past, that I grew up with. Can you guess what the 'in-joke' is?
(HINTS: (1) No, it has nothing to do with the animated TV show "South Park", as the often-mentioned snack food 'Cartman' likes is called Cheesy Poofs, and these are Cheezies; (2) It has something to do with a popular independent comic book from the 1980s - so if you are 30 years of age or younger, you might not get the 'in-joke', unless you're a frequent comic book reader.)
Well, here's the answer to my 'in-joke': Back in the late 1980s, a popular independent title was "Fusion" (from Eclipse Comics) - which followed the adventures of an interspecies crew (of both humans and animals) of the spaceship Tsunami, drawn by both Lela A. Dowling and Steve Gallacci. A regular feature of "Fusion" is their back-up story, "The Weasel Patrol" - also drawn by Dowling, and written by her former 'significant other' Ken Macklin - featuring a troop of misfit mustelids who usually 'luck out' in solving crimes and mysteries. And in each story, 'The Weasel Patrol' take snack breaks with their favorite food fare, bags of 'Cheezies'. (Hence, the reference to that product in my comic gag with 'Weezil'.)

It was a pleasure to render your fat 'fursona' again, Weezil. I'd figured that the simplicity of your musteline character (fat or thin) led me to believe that he was a 'least weasel'; hence, the oxymoronic reference. I'm glad you liked that!
I was kicking around an idea (for a future gag) of making your fat character thin again, by stretching him out on a medieval rack... but I'm not that sadistic!
