I can't stress enough how important bloody light is for your pics! The best time of day for you is generally the worst time of day for photography. Mid-day sucks and unfortunately that's the fun time to be out and about and snapping away.
Me mum and I were heading back to the city last week and after a couple hours drive we went down a side road to let the pups out for a wizz and a romp before we hit town. This was taken at 8:56:09 AM on Oct 27'th, Starry Night tells me sunrise was at 8:09 that day. Straight-on hard-ass daylight is shit for photography, no tone at all.
These kids are so full of life it blows my mind. Yah it's a 'pet pic', but I couldn't resist. I think it'll stand as a good example of framing, light, the technical side rather than artsy.

Oh no, misunderstanding! The links to the uber-kyooot Gracie were supposed to be a reply to your comment. Unfortunately with FA you've got no delete comment, which I find rather strange and more than a bit irritating at times.
I would have loved to have had a nice crisp sharp version of this pic to capture their expressions better but you take what you can get. Motion blur can be nice too, I was tracking them so unfortunately the background is blurred.
