A hand carved sewing box with dovetail joints based on a medieval reliquary box . Same basic design as the first using bass wood " linden wood to any Europeans " instead of poplar wood and very different patterns . I really liked how the Celtic key work pattern on the lids turned out . It took forever to layout the pattern and hardly any time to carve it . The relief carving took much longer , but was lots of fun to carve .

Funny thing about those dovetails ... I used a jig someone got me for Christmas . It took forever and two extra days to get it set up for each joint . I think I used it on three sewing boxes and after that I've only made dovetails by hand which is about the only way I join boxes now . I will post a few exceptions though . LOL , I'm wondering how careful with sexual innuendo I should be when I give something a general rating .
