I think it's because people are so used to having horse behaviourists passed on to one generation to the next.

I believe a LOT of horse training, in the traditional sense, is all about domination rather than co-operation. Many are still hung on the ideal that we are superior to animals therefore if a horse is not useful to them, it's a "worthless animal".

I only wish I could keep a stallion, I need to get off my ass and get to working towards making my dreams of having a place of my own to be with horses come true.

I cant stand to geld with out medical cause.

Domination if you do it right is part of there normal heard herachy. I use it all the time. :)

Sounds to me like they want you to geld your stallion in stall #36, or store your stuff in it.

No one used the stall, so there were no problems that I'm aware of.

Not only in the US believe me. Here if you look for a place for a stallion you get like "and you don't want to geld it?" about everytime.

France but western europe in general, except for places who know what a horse is.

One would think most of Europe would know what a horse is. its not like over here in the states where horses came and went pretty quickly as means of transportation.

Well, there are still places like the Portuguese school or the Vienna school and several others but most modern place like riding schools are all saying the same: "english saddles are the best, stallions are dangerous, balance exercises are useless because kids are leaving and we need money etc."

Nuño Oliveira was a great Master of riding, he was portuguese, for some he is considered the riding Master of the XXth century, he could place any horse on rassemblé in seconds and make them do a passage in a week. the wiki article is a bit weak though; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuno_Oliveira

interesting if as you say very skimpy. I imagine he understood horses much better then most people. Its sad the lies that are passed about out of ignorance and a lack of willingness to learn.

People own a horse because it's fun and most of all because it shows you have money and keep them alone in a field, they forgot that horses live in herd and in each herd horses form couples so that's why you should never have an odd number of horse in a pasture.

thats why I have my 2 boys. Would have kept the filly I loved most but when Anubis got old enough he would have killed her the first time he mounted her little body. Any ways she wasn't so healthy that breading her would have been a good idea.
