Dead winter, January 2, 30000 AD The fall of Humanity The Gaia Naval Vessle
"My Lord, everyone is boarded and ready for the jump." Vennessa Gaiagan, young scientist for King Drapal of the world.
"Very good, Vennessa....Jane," he turns to a young servant of blonde locks and blue eyes, one of the seven humans with this remaining trait,
"Go board, Vennessa and I will be there shortly." Jane bows and leaves. The king sighs heavily and settles into his thrown. "I can't believe it's come to this...."
"My Lord..." King Drapal held his hand up and Vennessa silenced herself.
"Please, we grew up together, there is no need for formalities between us." Vennessa smiled. She and King Drapal had been best friends forever. Vennessa's father was the first King Drapal's most valued scientist. He was also the worlds leading weapon technition.
"Rei we should get boarded. The nuclear blast is going to hit shortly." Vennessa and Rei's fathers were also the reason they were in this mess. King Drapal the first ordered Henry Gaiagan to construct the biggest and deadliest nuclear weapon the universe had ever known. Henry Gaiagan gladly eccepted and built the "Destroyer" a powerful weapon that sped the process of plate techtonics and sent all of the continents crashing into eachother at a devistating rate...but King Drapal wasn't the only one who wanted to get his hands on it. The Nipherian government also wanted this great weapon at their desposal to overthrow King Drapal. Vennessa's father gained knowledge of the threat to the King and vanquished the "Destroyer" but in the process, set it off and caused a nuclear explotion, killing anyone who was not in a Naval Vessle that was not in the way of the colliding contenents, which left two vessles of 7,000 alive, including the now orphaned Prince Drapal and his friend Vennessa Gaiagan. Vennessa stood in Rei's private chambers staring out the port hole at the sickly brown ocean that had once been Antarctica.
"It's a damned shame...." Rei brought her back from her thoughts. "Our parents made this mess and here we are struggling to survive because of it. And now we have to leave...." Vennessa sighed, tucking her red locks behind her ear. Red hair was a common trait, though it almost died out in the late 21st century.
"Rei.....I'm not sure if everyone, if anyone, will even survive...." Vennessa sighed.
Rei nodded. "I know, we were all aware of this when you proposed this, but either we have a 30% chance of living, or we all have 100% chance of dying. This is our only hope. YOU are our only hope." Rei rose to grip his childhood friend's shoulders lightly and effectionatly.
Vennessa nodded. She knew the chances of them living by the time jump were slim but the chances of them living on in the time they were already in, was nothing. Vennessa and Rei embraced and sighed. They had spent most of their lives worrying about the day when humanity would fail, and here they lived to see that dreaded day. Rei stroked Vennessa's hair and gladly inhaled her unique sent of some extinct, exotic flower as he had done so often to comfort himself in the past.
"We must leave." He finally annouced releasing Vennessa and heading toward the door. Vennessa sighed and followed her friend to what could possibly be their death.
