I actually did a lot of legwork on this one. Couple sketches, remaking it in Alchemy, doing 3D models of the candy, inking, and inking. I have it all recorded on livestream, but my computer doesn't seem powerful enough to let me compact it down into one big progress video. :| (Or I'm missing something in video formatting, more likely.)
Huge chunk of inspiration comes from a character called The Quick Brown Fox: http://squeedgeart.tumblr.com/post/16093974255 The idea of a piñata character just kind of makes my mind run down a bunch of possibilities in design. Would bones be made of candy? What candies would visually work for organs? How do the frills work? (Kinda like soft loose scales, I'd think.) Not all the ideas made it in to this, but boy howdy is it fun to think about.
Also a guro magazine with the theme of candy made a lot of people make pretty vague passes at piñatas. I really wanted to make something that looked like a piñata, not just a girl with candy guts. Same went for nooses, but I wanted a more 'submission' look and to contort a broken limb, so I put the rope on the foot instead. The blindfold and traditional festive bat were missing from what WIPs I was seeing, and I really REALLY wanted to call back to more piñata motifs.
Oops I think I rambled on a bunch. Inspiration is cool. 8D
