Not many; I remember in Zork Zero and a few others you could undo by typing "OOPS". I've also found a few text adventure scripting tools that give the option to UNDO as a compile-time option.

The black strips at the top and bottom almost make it look like a scene out of one of those text adventure things, or something quite close to film noir with subtitles. The subtle light detail coming from the window is a nice touch. There's something about a guy with a thick frame blushing like that that's so adorable. .-.

The wikipedia entry seems to believe it was more due to HBO refusing to fund series 3 at its current cost and the viewing figures for season 2 being awful (possible because it was on at a ridiculous time and on not on the BBC's primary broadcast channel over here). It probably would have gone downhill though and it did at least end at a sensible point.
