If you're old enough, you remember the pleasant surprise when it was discovered Leslie Nielson could do humour, not that he was once "serious". I don't think he was every anything but a B actor in the old days, though. Apart from Forbidden Planet, it's hard to remember what he was in until Police Acadamy.
