When a succubus consumes more souls than she has use for, her body may become overwhelmed and mutated, or 'corrupted' by the immense energy. It is a painful process that is usually irreversible, and progresses to the point of the succubi's body hardening over and disintegrating. Without being able to hunt, the succubus becomes malnourished. This combined with the progressing decay often results in the loss of the features which once allowed her to be considered beautiful. Ashamed of her appearance, the succubus will often seek refuse in places like graveyards where they can also feed desperately on lost souls, unable to accept their inevitable death. In rare cases, the corrupted succubus will seek human companionship as comfort in her final days of life. It is rumored that in rare cases, a succubus will beg an angel for help, but this is widely doubted due to her stubborn, proud nature and the distrust of the equally-manipulative angels.
