Jax and Cruurtun return to the PCA for the new year, but Ember has left the school (no, her breakup with Jax is not the reason), and Av, Myko, and Rayza have all graduated, so three new transfer students join the team.
below is the story for those of you without Word 2007 and those lazy bums who don't want to load it.
Ryan Knight sighed as he wandered down the corridor. He’d been assigned this team randomly; apparently three of their members had graduated, while another had been pulled out of the academy for some reason, and his transfer had had a condition of him being added to a randomly-chosen team that had some space.
Room 221, he thought, eyeing the stretch of corridor. There was a dorm with half its number missing and some scorch marks a few doors down, but the one he wanted had been decorated by a small banner with a stylised dragon’s-head logo.
Taking a deep breath, Ryan knocked firmly.
“It’s open!” came the call, and the Lucario blinked, before pushing the door open and stepping through, looking around as he closed it behind him.
A tall, lean Charizard with a long ponytail and an ankle-length duster coat was reclining idly on the couch, reading what looked like a science textbook, while a Haxorus sat at the desk, apparently doing homework.
Dragons, Ryan realised, That’s why they have the name; DragonStrikers.
“You’re one of our new members?” the Charizard asked, sitting up and closing his book, “Glad you’re here. My name’s Jaxamar Drakenguard. That’s Cruurtun Haxor. We’re what’s left of the original DragonStrikers.”
Drakenguard? No second surname? That could only mean he’s in the direct line of descent from the founder of the Drakenguard dragon clan, Ryan thought, surprised.
“Ryan Knight,” the Lucario replied, shaking Jaxamar’s hand, “But aren’t we missing someone?”
“Yeah, but they haven’t arrived yet,” Jax replied with a shrug, “They should be-.”
A smart rap on the door cut him off, and he went over and opened it, revealing a female Hydreigon in a black leather trench-coat, a blue shirt, and jeans, with a Skarmory wing-feather in her hair and a long ponytail.
“I’m Lisa Hydran, but I prefer to be called Skystrifer. Is this the DragonStrikers dorm?” she asked.
“Ah, yes,” Jax said, stepping to one side, “Come on in. We’re still waiting for one more, but…”
“I’m here,” a soft-spoken voice said, and they turned to look. It was a Dragonair, who was shuffling awkwardly.
“Maya Dragona,” she introduced.
“Right. Well, I’m Jaxamar, this is Ryan, and Cruurtun,” the Charizard said, looking a tad flustered.
“Who are these?” Ryan asked, indicating a set of photos in an alcove alongside several mecha models.
Jax picked up the first of them, containing five ‘morphs. He smiled sadly at it.
“Well, this was the DragonStrikers when we were founded,” he explained, “Cruurtun hadn’t arrived yet… That’s me,” he said, pointing to the grinning Charmeleon with the distinctive golden eyes and blue duster coat, “I only stopped wearing that torc recently… That’s Avartiath Drakenguard, my cousin,” he continued, pointing to the huge Salamence, “Our tech wizard and strategist. There’s Rayzarana DrakCleaver,” he pointed to the ebon-black shiny Rayquaza, “Our resident speedster. Av’s girlfriend, Myko Latina, is her,” he pointed to the Latias, “our tactical coordinator. While Ember Typhlo,” he pointed to the Typhlosion, “was our martial artist…”
He sighed, and put the picture back.
“Well, we’d better get you three settled in,” he continued, smiling, “I look forward to getting to know you.”
