Very quick WIP pic of Kyotsu's lion head all furred! I had to take these pictures quickly because it was so hot and muggy out ('sup 93% humidity outside?), my camera lens kept fogging up!

I also took these because we had some concerns about the character's fur coloring before we took this commission. We like to know that we can match your character's colors as closely as possible before we accept new work, as that's sort of the point, right? Building a suit as true as can be to what you imagined?

So the week before we chose which suits we would be taking, we found a new color fur being offered by one of our fur suppliers. I (quaylak) freaked out and said it would be perfect for Kyotsu! jakejynx disagreed. So we had a disagreement last minute (more about what texture would be best for a lion's mane rather than color -- it was between this brown or MM's rust) and had to let the commissioner decide.

I wanted to take some quick shots like this outside, despite the awful heat and mosquitoes eating me up, so the commissioner could see that I personally think he made the right choice based off of his character ref sheet. I think that was as close as we were going to get, and we were lucky to find such a color when we did! These pictures are totally unedited and raw so the true colors show. No brightness adjustments, hues/saturation, nothing!

We should be adding his neck and head tuft and moving on to trimming this weekend. Almost done with a cutie lion! The rest of his pieces are totally finished except for the airbrushing. c:
